The IBM Directory Server is a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directory that runs as a stand-alone daemon. It is based on a client/server model that provides client access to an LDAP server. The IBM Directory Server provides an easy way to maintain directory information in a central location for storage, updating, retrieval, and exchange.

The IBM Directory Server Version 5.1 carries the Tivoli Ready logo. An IBM Software product that carries the Tivoli Ready logo can be managed through the Tivoli Management Enterprise (TME) products. The management support provided by the IBM Directory Server Version 5.1 allows for automatic discovery, monitoring, start and stop processes/services from Tivoli Global Enterprise Manager console and inventory by Tivoli Inventory software.
The Tivoli Ready enablement files provided by the IBM Directory Server Version 5.1 are located in the following directory after installation of the server component:
install_path/tivready
where install_path is the path where the IBM Directory Server Version 5.1 is installed. See the Tivoli_Ready_README.txt file in this directory for detailed information on installation and configuration of the Tivoli Ready enablement.
