Installing a Mobile Portal Accelerator cluster with WebSphere Portal

There are special considerations for installing IBM® Mobile Portal Accelerator in a cluster (horizontal or vertical).

The WebSphere® Portal product documentation and the Readme provide detailed information about installing WebSphere Portal in a cluster. Refer to Technotes for information about required WebSphere Portal fixes.

Use this topic, in conjunction with the Cluster considerations topic in the WebSphere Portal product documentation, to install and configure an Mobile Portal Accelerator cluster (horizontal or vertical).

Note: A horizontal cluster is defined as a cluster where the members are located on separate dedicated servers; a vertical cluster is where the members are located on the same server.
This topic assumes the same topology referenced in the Installing topics in the WebSphere Portal product documentation, namely:

Installing the deployment manager

To install the deployment manager (DM01), follow the deployment manager installation instructions in the Preparing the WebSphere Application Server Deployment Manager topic for your operating system in the WebSphere Portal product documentation.

After installing the deployment manager, you can then install a Mobile Portal Accelerator cluster (horizontal or vertical).

Installing Mobile Portal Accelerator

You can choose from two approaches when installing a IBM Mobile Portal Accelerator cluster (horizontal or vertical): on a WebSphere Portal node not managed by a deployment manager—creating a new cluster, and to an existing WebSphere Portal cluster.

Detailed information about these approaches are contained in the sections that follow.
