1.0 Overview

This document describes how to install Daylight Saving Time Update for IBM® Rational® software using IBM RSD Product Updater or IBM Rational Product Updater. You should use one of these product updaters to install this update directly from the IBM update server. The following sections describe how to install this update.

2.0 Installation prerequisites

To install the update directly from the IBM update server, you will require 2 MB of disk space. If you download, extract, and install the update, you will require 4 MB of disk space.

In addition, you must have a product updater installed, as shown in the following table:

To verify the current version numbers of your product and installed interim features:

  1. Start your product updater:

    Note: On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.0, if you use a desktop environment other than the default, the product shortcuts might not appear in the default location.

  2. Click the Installed Products tab.

3.0 Installing the update

Install the update with the same user account that installed your product.

Restrictions:

To install the update directly from the IBM update server, complete the following steps:

  1. Start your product updater, as described in Step 1 of the installation prerequisites.

  2. Click Find Updates.

    If your product updater requires an update, you are prompted to install it before you can continue. Click OK. Your product updater installs the update, restarts, and retrieves a list of available updates.

  3. Select Daylight Saving Time Update for product, where product is the name of a product that is listed at the top of this page.

  4. Click Install Updates.

  5. In the License Agreement window, read the license agreement and, if you accept the terms and conditions, click I accept the terms in the license agreement; then click OK.

    After the installation is complete, your product updater lists the installed updates on the Installed Products page.

  6. Close your product updater.

4.0 Downloading the update for local installations

You should install the update directly from the IBM update server as described above; however, it is also available for download. You might want to download and install the update in the following situations:

To download and install the update, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the update for your product using the URL that is shown in the following table:

  2. Extract the update to a temporary directory, such as C:\temp.

  3. Open the installation instructions for your product using the directory and file name that are shown in the following table:

5.0 Installing product updates from a command line

You can install product updates, such as interim fixes, fix packs, and refresh packs, from a command line so that you do not have to monitor or input information during the installation.

6.0 Creating a local mirror of the update server

You might want to create a local mirror of the update server for your product updater in the following situations:

To download the instructions for your product via FTP, use the URL that is shown in the preceding table after editing the URL like this: replace http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/ with ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/.

7.0 Uninstalling the update

Uninstall the update with the same user account that installed your product.

Restrictions:

To uninstall the update, complete the following steps:

  1. Start your product updater, as described in Step 1 of the installation prerequisites.

  2. Click the Rollbacks tab. An inventory of installed product updates and features is displayed on the Rollbacks page.

  3. Select Daylight Saving Time Update for product, where product is the name of a product that is listed at the top of this page.

    Dependencies between updates are enforced automatically. If you select to roll back an update on which other installed updates depend, the dependent updates are also selected to roll back.

  4. Click Roll Back Updates.

  5. Close your product updater.

8.0 IBM Rational Software Support

When you contact IBM Rational Software Support, the support representative will require the versions of the installed products or interim features on your system.

To determine the versions, complete the following steps:

  1. Start your product updater, as described in Step 1 of the installation prerequisites.

  2. Click the Installed Products tab.
