Use the publication Properties window to modify a Data Warehouse Center publication.
You can modify the following properties on a publication:
Information catalog name, administrator user ID and password.
Properties that specify whether to update or replace objects that exist in the information catalog (definition metadata only).
Properties that limit the number of levels of objects that are published and displayed in the Information Catalog Manager Tree view (definition metadata only).
To modify properties for a publication:
In the Catalog name field, type the name of the information catalog to which you want to publish metadata.
In the Administrator user ID field, type a user ID that has access to the information catalog . The user ID can be the ID of the information catalog administrator or that of an information catalog user that has certain administrative privileges.
In the Administrator password field, type the password that corresponds to the user ID.
Type the password again in the Verify password field.
Optional: If you are updating a publication that contains definition metadata, select one of the following check boxes:
Select Generate object names and descriptions in the information catalog on update to replace existing object names and descriptions with the names and descriptions of the same objects in the Data Warehouse Center. Do not select the check box if you want to keep existing objects and descriptions in the information catalog. For example, if you specified additional business information for an object in the information catalog and do not want to overwrite the information with updated values, you would not check this box. This check box is not available if you select Delete existing objects in information catalog before updating.
Select Delete existing objects in information catalog before updating to delete existing objects before you publish objects from the Data Warehouse Center. Do not select this check box if you want to keep and update existing objects in the information catalog. If you select this check box, the Information Catalog Manager deletes all objects that are related to a deleted object, such as database and table objects. The Tree view is updated so that there are no objects unrelated to other objects.
Optional: If you are updating a publication that contains definition metadata, you can make the tree structure shown in the Information Catalog Manager tree view less complex by limiting the number of levels of objects published and displayed in the Tree view:
Select Limit the levels of objects in the tree to limit the number of levels of objects that are published and displayed in the Tree view. If you do not select this check box, all objects and underlying objects you select are published and displayed.
Click the up or down arrow to specify a limit for the number of levels of objects published and displayed in the Tree view. The default limit value is 1. The lower the limit you specify, the less complex the tree structure will be.
For example if you specify a limit value of 1 and publish a process, only 1 step from the process will be published and displayed in the tree view.
Click OK.
The properties for the publication are changed. You can run the publication or schedule it to run at a later time.
