Use the publication Properties window to modify a OLAP Server publication.
You can modify the following properties on a publication:
Information catalog name, administrator user ID and password.
DB2 OLAP Server or Essbase server supervisor user ID and password.
Properties that specify whether to update or replace objects that exist in the information catalog.
Properties that limit the number of levels of objects that are published and displayed in the Information Catalog Manager tree view.
Properties that limit the number of dimensions and members for each level of objects that are published and displayed in the Information Catalog Manager Tree view.
To modify properties for a publication:
In the Supervisor user ID field, type the user ID of the supervisor for the DB2 OLAP Server or the Essbase Server.
In the Supervisor password field, type the password for the supervisor user ID.
Type the password again in the Verify password field.
In the Catalog name field, type the name of the information catalog to which you want to publish metadata.
In the Administrator user ID field, type a user ID that has access to the information catalog . The user ID can be the ID of the information catalog administrator or that of an information catalog user that has certain administrative privileges.
Type the password that corresponds to the user ID in the Administrator password field.
Type the password again in the Verify password field.
Optional: Select one of the following check boxes determine how published metadata will be updated:
Select Generate object names and descriptions in the information catalog on update to replace existing object names and descriptions with the names and descriptions of the same objects in the Essbase outline. Do not select this check box if you want to keep existing objects and descriptions in the information catalog. For example, if you specified additional business information for an object in the information catalog and do not want to overwrite the information with updated values, you would not check this box. This check box is not available if you select Delete existing objects in information catalog before updating.
Select Delete existing objects in information catalog before updating to delete existing objects before you publish Essbase objects. Do not select this check box if you want to keep existing objects in the information catalog. If you select this check box, the Information Catalog Manager deletes all objects that are related to a deleted object. The Tree view is updated so that there are no objects unrelated to other objects.
Optional: You can make the tree structure shown in the Information Catalog Manager less complex by limiting the number of levels of objects published and displayed in the tree view:
Select Limit the levels of objects in the tree to limit the number of levels of objects that are published and displayed in the tree view. If you do not select this check box, all objects and underlying objects you select are published and displayed.
Click the up or down arrow to specify a limit for the number of levels of objects published and displayed in the tree view. The default limit value is 1. The lower the limit you specify, the less complex the tree structure will be.
Optional: You can make the tree structure shown in the Information Catalog Manager less complex for each level published by limiting the number of dimensions and members for each level:
Select Limit the number of dimensions and members for each level to limit the number of dimensions and members within each dimension that are published and displayed in the tree view. If you do not select this check box, for each level of the Tree view published, all objects that represent dimensions and all objects that represent members within those dimensions in the Essbase outline are published and displayed.
Click the up or down arrow to specify a limit for the number of dimensions and members within each dimension that are published and displayed in the Tree view of the Information Catalog Manager. The default limit value is 1. The lower the limit you specify the less complex the tree structure will be.
Click OK.
The properties for the publication are altered. You can run the publication or schedule it to run at a later time.
