You can optionally install the Media Access Proxy (MAP) software. The MAP, a component of Mobile Portal Accelerator, can be used to transcode images and other media resources displayed by Mobile portlets on WebSphere® Portal or to transcode images and other media resources referenced in messages sent using a messaging web application.
When MAP is used with WebSphere Portal, it should be installed on a separate application server from WebSphere Portal. The separate application server can be on the same physical server as WebSphere Portal or a different physical server, depending on your environment:
