Importing policies to the Multi-Channel Server database

If the policies you plan to import are new, they will be ready for use as soon as you import them. However, if the imported policies were changed or if you have imported a new device repository, you will need to prepare the server to use these policies by performing one of the following procedures:

• Restart the application server using the following commands:
  

  wp_profile_root/bin/stopServer.sh server_name -username WAS_admin -password WAS_admin_password_value

  wp_profile_root/bin/startServer.sh server_name

  

  wp_profile_root\bin\stopServer server_name -username WAS_admin -password WAS_admin_password_value

  wp_profile_root\bin\startServer server_name

  where server_name is the name of the WebSphere® Application Server instance (for example, WebSphere_Portal).

  Or,

• Use the MCS manager function to flush the policy cache. For details on how to enable this function, refer to the topic Enabling and using the Multi-Channel Server manager function. For details on using the mcsServerManager command, refer to the topic Clearing caches manually in the Multi-Channel Server portion of this information center.

The following policy types can be imported:

• Device
• Portlet
• Global
• Aggregator
