Specifying the location and file type to be loaded

Use the File page of the Load notebook to specify the location of and type of data file to be loaded into the table.

Fields and controls



To specify where the data to be loaded is located and what type of data it is:

  1. Open the File page of the Load notebook.

  2. Specify the locations of the data in the Files, pipes, or devices containing the data list box. Click on the Add push button to open the Add window so you can add one or more locations to this list box.

    The new entry is added to the list following the entry that is currently selected. If no entry is selected, the new entry is appended to the list.

  3. Optional: Modify the list of locations in the Files, pipes, or devices containing the data list box. You can change or rearrange their order by selecting a path and using the Change, Up, and Down push buttons. You can remove locations from the list by selecting the names and using the Remove push button.

  4. Specify the type of file by selecting one of the following radio buttons:

  5. Optional: Specify options for loading a particular file type or for loading large objects (LOBs), by clicking on one of the following push buttons and using the window that opens:

  6. If you have specified all required information for the load process, you can start the load process now by clicking on OK. Otherwise, to specify required or optional information, or to change default values, go to one of the other notebook pages.
