Creating a server

Use the Create Server window to define a server to DB2.

Creating a server is one of a series of actions that you perform to work with data in a federated system.

To create a server:

  1. Open the Create Server window.

  2. In the Name for new data source field, type the name that you want to assign to the new data source.

  3. In the Server type box, select the type of data source that you want to connect to.

  4. In the Version field, type the version number of the data source that you want to connect to.

  5. In the Node name box, type or select the node name where the data source resides.

  6. For DB2 data sources only: In the Database name box, type or select the type of database that you want to connect to.

  7. Optional and DB2 data sources only: In the User ID field, type the user ID to use on the database that you want to connect to.

  8. Optional and DB2 data sources only: In the Password field, type the password for the user ID.

  9. Optional: Click Options to display the Create Server Options window.

  10. Click OK to create the server and place the server object in the Control Center.
