Viewing a Show Me
A Show Me is a short movie that provides a visual walkthrough of the task topic that you have open in the online help system. The actions shown in the demo map directly to the steps written in the task. This provides you with another way to learn the steps of a complex task.
Not all tasks have a Show Me associated with them. If a task topic has a Show Me, you will see a link under the title of the topic.
Click the Show Me link to start the demonstration. A new window will open and the Show Me will begin playing automatically. There are controls at the bottom of the window that let you control the Show Me playback. This way you can replay sections as needed.
When you are finished viewing the Show Me, just close the window to return to the topic in the online help system.
Except for some key pieces (the Getting Started, Install and Migration Guides, and others), only the English version of the online documentation are provided with the product. More translated documentation will be available via Update Manager. To download these updates when they are available, select Help > Software Updates > New Updates or Help > Software Updates > Update Manager in the Workbench.
Getting Started Guide Struts sample
In the Getting Started Guide under "Loading the Struts Trade Sample," 4.0 should be changed to 5.0 and 8080 should be changed to 7080 in the following bullet item: Created a server project named Trade Server, which runs in the WebSphere version 4.0 test environment and listens on TCP/IP port number 8080.
When you create the patient or insurance Web service, a warning may pop up that says that the Web service is not WS-I compliant. This warning can be ignored.
(This is a migration item.) If you have imported a Web services file from 4.0.x, you may receive the following error messages:
Error The part 'result' has an invalid value 'anyElement' defined for its type. Type declarations must refer to valid values defined in a schema.
Error The part 'return' has an invalid value 'findPatientResult' defined for its element. Element declarations must refer to valid values defined in a schema.
Error The part 'response' has an invalid value 'findPatientResponse' defined for its element. Element declarations must refer to valid values defined in a schema. The workaround is:
- Delete the WSDL files.
- Regenerate your Web services by rerunning the Web Services wizard.
When WebSphere Studio Version 5.1 is started for the first time using an existing WebSphere Studio Version 5.0 workspace a dialog box appears showing you one way to migrate from Version 5.0 to Version 5.1. Click OK to migrate the Version 5.0 workspace to Version 5.1, or click Cancel to stop WebSphere Studio from starting.
When the workspace is migrated to Version 5.1, you can still use the workspace with Version 5.0 as the metadata of the new project features of Version 5.1 are ignored and can be read by Version 5.0. You cannot make any changes in Version 5.0 to the projects in the workspace that would effect the metadata or overwrite the metadata of the new project feature of Version 5.1 projects.
For more information about the new project features in Version 5.1, refer to the WebSphere Studio Migration Guide.
Even though the messaging and queuing support was not installed, you may receive the "Embedded Messaging Client only has been installed" message upon starting the server. This message refers to the build-in client code for the MQ Simulator for Java Developers and not the messaging and queuing support code. The message can be safely ignored.
When using Update Manager to apply service, you may be prompted with an Optional Features dialog asking if you would like to update optional features. Do not modify the default selections. If you attempt to service a feature that is not already installed on your system, you will receive error messages.
- The second sentence in the second paragraph of the "WebSphere Studio Workbench in Version 5, Version 5.0.1, and Version 5.1" section, should say: "There are some differences between WSWB 2.1.1 and WSWB 2.0.3 or WSWB 2.0.2."
- All references in the guide to Struts 1.1 RC1 should say Struts 1.1.
Step 1 of the "Starting WebSphere Studio Site Developer" section in the Installation Guide states an incorrect default workspace location. It should say: "By default, your work is stored in a directory called workspace, located in the My Documents\IBM\wssitedev51 directory.
If you try to partially uninstall one or more of the WebSphere Studio Site Developer required features (such as, Integrated Development Environment or WebSphere Application Server Version 5.0), you will receive an error message similar to:
"Invalid selection:
Unable to uninstall ide_required: root is not set for uninstall"
To work around this problem, select the Product Uninstallation check box. The uninstallation panel will be reinitialize so that you may now uninstall WebSphere Studio Site Developer entirely, or unselect the features that you do not want to uninstall.
Since the Rational ClearCase LT is not available in this product, you can safely ignore the "Uninstalling Rational ClearCase LT" section in the Installation Guide.
If during the installation of the product you press Cancel, the installation program may continue for a while before the cancel takes affect.
In the section of the WSSD Installation Guide, "Installing, upgrading, and uninstalling Agent Controller on Windows", the incorrect path is: system_drive:\Program Files\IBM\Application Developer v51\eclipse\jre\bin.
The correct path is: system_drive:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere Studio\Site Developer\v5.1\eclipse\jre\bin.
If you install WebSphere Studio, and then start the installation program again to install (or re-install) various componenent, and select to cancel the installation before it finishes, you may receive the following error:
"Errors occured during the installation - User cancelled installation".
When you attempt to uninstall the product, you may receve the following error:
"A suitable JVM could not be found. Please run the program again using the option -is:javahome <JAVA HOME DIR>.
To work around this, you must run the installation program again, then uninstall the product.
If you are performing a silent installation of WebSphere Studio and you do not have enough disk space to install the product, you will not receive an error message when the installation fails. To work around this, ensure you have enough disk space before you start the installation. The amount of disk space required is listed in the Installation guide.
In the "Invoking a silent installation" section of the "Installing, upgrading, and uninstalling Agent Controller on Windows" instructions, there are steps on how to install silently using a secured connection and an unsecured connection. In both these sets of steps, step 2 should be:
By default, anyone who uses the computer where Agent Controller is installed can use Agent Controller. This default cannot be changed.
The log in security feature for Agent Controller is not available if you install Agent Controller on AIX.
