Installing Version 4.0.2 for Linux on zSeries
Install WebSphere Application Server Version 4.0 for Linux on zSeries (also
referred to as "Version 4.0.2") as follows:
- Ensure that your hardware and supporting software meet prerequisites for Version 4.0.2.
You can find lists of prerequisite products needed for IBM WebSphere Application
Server at
http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/latest/prereq.html.
- Read Version 4.0 InfoCenter installation information on the Linux (Intel)
Advanced Edition product, specifically the PDF lx_adv_ihs_db2.pdf. Parts of
the information in that PDF, revised as necessary for this release, are provided
with these release notes. (See steps 3, 4, 6 and 7 below.) Access the InfoCenter from
http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/infocenter.html.
Note that installation information for Linux products is not
available in HTML format but is available in PDF format. (Select the "Getting
Started" section of the InfoCenter and then "Installation documents.")
Further, read pertinent information on installation and
configuration problems and fixes in these Release Notes. If you are installing
WebSphere Application Server onto a machine that does not use an English locale,
read as well information on National Language Version issues
and limitations.

IBM HTTP Server directories as well as the IBM HTTP Server package registration
with your system's package repository.
