Enabling use of CTM on an existing application installation

In some circumstances, a customer may wish to commence production use of the application without initially making use of CTM. This strategy avoids the need to initially consider CTM - specific concerns such as system landscape configuration, data management policies, key block range allocation, etc. Consideration of these issues can then be deferred until the decision is made to commence using CTM.

An example of when this strategy might be adopted is when an existing customer initially upgrades to a distribution of the application that supports CTM. In this case, the customer may decide to first perform a technical upgrade, avoiding use of new features introduced in the new version of the application. Then, at a later date, the customer may decide to commence using new features such as CTM.
