Use checkvob for these purposes:
Checking VOB database or storage pool consistency after a VOB restore operation
(Optional) Cleaning up broken cross-VOB hyperlinks
(Optional) Finding and fixing problems in an administrative VOB hierarchy
(Optional) Monitoring VOBs
(Optional) Diagnosing and repairing damaged VOBs
Running checkvob to verify a VOB restore operation is always recommended, but it is required (and happens automatically) when you restore a VOB that uses the semi-live backup strategy. (See also vob_snapshot, vob_restore, and Choosing Between Standard and Semi-Live Backup.) We recommend that you run checkvob as part of your normal maintenance routine.
