XmlAccess restrictions and limitations

Certain restrictions and limitations apply when using XmlAccess to update portlet preferences or content node parameters.

If you make XmlAccess updates to portlet preferences, or content node parameters, they will not automatically be updated in the XDIME aggregator runtime. This is because both the portlet preferences and content node parameters are cached and must be reloaded.

Restarting the portal server will automatically reload the pending XmlAccess changes. Another option is to reload the attributes descriptor file. Reloading the attribute descriptor file will flush the cache and show your XmlAccess updates.

The administrator can reload the user interface using the following steps:
  1. Open the Extended Properties portlet Configuration page.
  2. Click the Portlet menu (down arrow).
  3. Click Configure to reload the user interface from the XML descriptor file.
