Updating the User Agent Switcher in Firefox
If
you are using the Firefox web browser, you can use the User Agent
Switcher to emulate a specific device type. You will need to provide
the User Agent Switcher with a user header for the device type in
question. The user header is provided using an XML file.
To
provide the a user header for a device type, follow these steps:
- Open the Firefox web browser.
- Click .
- Click User Agents.
- Back up your current device list by clicking Export.
Navigate to the directory location where you want to save the list
and specify a file name, for example starter.xml.
The
exported file will have a format similar to the following:
<useragent description="Samsung SCH-i910-Opera"
useragent="VZW:SCH-i910 Opera 9.5 PPC 240x400" appname=""
appversion="" platform="" vendor="" vendorsub="" />
You
can optionally use this file as a basis for creating the XML file
containing definitions for the device type you want to emulate.
- Click Overwrite and then click Import.
- Navigate to the location of the XML file that contains the definitions
for the device type you want to emulate.
- Click OK.
