Creating the MAP install image on your application server

After creating the descriptor store database for MAP, you must create the MAP install image on your application server.

About this task

The MAP installation package tar file MAP.tar is located on the product CD labeled:
IBM Mobile Portal Accelerator Version 8.0
Disc 1 of 2
If you are using Passport Advantage® to download images from the web or if you have access to the appropriate IBM® internal software or Business Partner download sites, download the image labeled:
IBM Mobile Portal Accelerator Version 8.0
Image 1 of 2
and extract the image into a directory on your server.

Follow these steps to create the MAP install image:

Procedure

  1. Log in to the server where the MAP will be installed. Log in as the user who installed WebSphere® Application Server.
  2. Change your working directory to was_profile_root and extract the contents of the MAP.tar file.

    For example, if the MAP is to be installed on the AppSrv01 profile of the WebSphere Application Server, extract the MAP.tar package under /usr/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/AppSrv01/.

    Note: If the MAP is to be installed on the WebSphere Portal server profile, use the wp_profile_root for extracting the MAP.tar package.

    This extraction process creates the MAP install image on your server.

  3. AIXLinuxSolaris Change the file permissions to add execute permission for mapInstaller.sh using the following commands:
    cd was_profile_root/map/install
    chmod 755 mapInstaller.sh

After you created the install image, you must configure your database for MAP. Proceed to the appropriate Configuring for your environment.
