Changing the navigation view for a mobile device

You can change the XDIME aggregator navigation view that is used for a mobile device.

About this task

WebSphere® Portal matches the user agent from a device's request header against the user agent patterns configured in the list of supported clients. When a match is found, WebSphere Portal uses the markup configured for the matching client definition to determine which aggregator should handle the device's request. Some aggregators, including the XDIME aggregator, support multiple navigation views which are also known as markup versions. The XDIME aggregator supports the following navigation views:

Perform the following steps to change the navigation view for a mobile device.

Procedure

  1. Log in to WebSphere Portal as a portal administrator.
  2. Navigate to Administration > Portal Settings > Supported Clients.
  3. Select the client you want to modify and click Edit selected client.
  4. In the Manage Clients window, modify the Markup Version field as follows:
    • To use the default navigation view (treeview), leave the field blank.
    • To use a different navigation view, type either iconview or pdaview into the field.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart the portal server using the following commands:
    AIXLinuxSolaris
    wp_profile_root/bin/stopServer.sh server_name -username WAS_admin -password WAS_admin_password_value
    wp_profile_root/bin/startServer.sh server_name
    Windows
    wp_profile_root\bin\stopServer server_name -username WAS_admin -password WAS_admin_password_value
    wp_profile_root\bin\startServer server_name

    where server_name is the name of the WebSphere Application Server instance (for example, WebSphere_Portal).
