The 7526 Microcode Fix/Enhancement History document tells you what we have fixed in or added to the 7526's EPROM-based microcode for the basic 7526 and FLASH-based microcode for the 7526 with the optional Ethernet-Serial-Parallel Adapter.
Several 7526 microcode version area available here if you have your own EPROM eraser and programmer. The FLASH file only requires a simple null-modem cable and a PC to re-load to the 7526 Ethernet-Serial-Parallel card.
If you do not have an EPROM programmer, you may have an outside supplier with the capabilities make the EPROMS for you at your expense (such as RaCoAmo Inc., the company who makes them for us). 7526 units are all out of warranty now -- IBM no longer provides free upgrades.
Note: If you are using the Ethernet-Serial-Parallel card, then upgrading from EPROM 3.xx to any higher 3.xx number is not necessary; beyond basic booting of the 7526, the EPROM is not used -- all function is in the FLASH load.
Fix for back-to-back SEND and VRFY transactions; two different scenarios which could cause terminal lock-up
Added menu support for locking beeper and contrast adjustments.
Transaction was being sent at end of txn program with AUTO set to OFF when worker would press Enter more than once on last input.
Send data on serial port was broken -- would send endlessly, going past end of output string. This was broken in 3.19/3.20 versions.
New, factory-only level. If you have this level, this indicates that you have the latest processor board ECs required to run the Ethernet-Serial-Parallel card.
Fix for printer function on basic 7526 without serial-parallel card (Ethernet-serial-parallel uses FLASH files listed below). Printer port code was broken in 3.11-3.15, not including 3.12.
Fix for terminal lock-up during printing with optional Serial-Parallel card; Fix for FORMAT command with variable length; Time-of-day alarm DO point driving fix; Printer spooling timeout increased.
Fix for lockout of scanner port used to read data when remote validation of that data timed out; fix for loss of printer function when 7526 turned off with data in print buffer; added support for print spooling.
Fix for getting E09 error during fast clocking transaction after a CMD D transaction terminated prior to sending a transaction.
Added support for displaying user variables on the terminal's idle display screen.
A few fixes for asynch alarms and file retention during high-frequency power hits.
Support for using the Serial-Parallel and Ethernet-Serial-Parallel cards.
These self-extracting executable files provide the HEX file, flash loading program for your PC, and a read.me instruction file. A simple null-modem serial cable is required to connect your PC and the 7526's serial 1 port together.
Higher revision levels contain all the fixes and enhancements listed in older versions.
Fix to prevent bar code reads at inappropriate times during long-executing VERIFY commands. Added menu support for accept/not accept Ethernet broadcast commands (this allows use of the 7526 on Ethernets which have a high number of broadcasts -- this level of traffic can reduce the 7526's ability to decode bar codes simultaneous with the network traffic. Note that you must use ARP commands to determine the Ethernet MAC address of the individual 7526 units and then to set the IP-MAC address pair into the ARP table of the DCConnect machine or the router which handles the LAN segment on which the 7526 is located).
Fix for back-to-back SEND and VRFY transactions; two different scenarios which could cause terminal lock-up
Fast Clocking was not working, as was not any other use of compacted files.
Added menu support for locking beeper and contrast adjustments.
Transaction was being sent at end of txn program with AUTO set to OFF when worker would press Enter more than once on last input.
Fix for loss of communinication from 7526 due to Address Resolution Protocol table entry time-outs.
New CFR APIs TimerGetTicks and TimerResetTick have been added which allows the CFR programmer access to a free-running 5mS timer tick counter, and the ability to reset the counter to 0.
Fixes include:
Fix for terminal lock-up during printing; Fix for FORMAT command with variable length; Time-of-day alarm DO point driving fix; Printer spooling timeout increased.
Fix for lack of printer port function. Workaround is to call PrtInit from a CFR.
The ultimate fix for Ethernet communications problems. Use of this level flash-ware requires an updated 7526 processor card. If you attempt to use this flash level on an non-modified processor card you will find that the 7526 locks-up during the memory POST count. Contact your place of purchase to get your 7526 processor card upgraded.
Includes fixes for various loss of communication, lock-up, and resetting problems on a heavily-used Ethernet (e.g. lots of broadcasts and/or unicasts directed to the 7526). Improved from the interim 4.10 version.
The transaction program printer command now does automatic spooling of data to the printer port, allowing you to do SEND to Printer commands repeatedly without intervening DELAY statements to avoid printer buffer full errors.

Includes fixes for:
Version B4.03 FLASH
Added support for displaying user variables on the terminal's idle display screen; included timer asynch alarms fixes.
Fixes potential user variable/memory problem which was in the original V4.00 version.
Download the latest toolkit package which includes the .H file and .LIB files necessary for building 7526 CFRs. Included are .LIB files for both the IBM C/2 1.10 compiler and the Borland Turbo C++ 3.0 for DOS compiler.
After downloading, use the '-d' option with PKUNZIP to recreate the subdirectories contained in the zip file.
Download the latest library of 7526 CFR utility functions that can make your CFRs more powerful and easier to write.
For more information about this package, please view the documentation for this package.
This package includes the source so that you can enhance or modify these utility routines.

Download the latest sample 7526 sample CFR if you've never written a 7526 CFR before. This CFR also includes many useful functions even for those who have written CFRs before and for those who don't want to write a CFR but want to add more power to their transaction programs.
For more information about this package, please view the documentation for this package.
This package includes the source so that you can enhance or modify the sample CFR for your needs. If you will be rebuilding this sample, you must also get the 7526 library of utility functions.
