Collection Services Investigator (CSI) is included with the Job Watcher service and includes software that helps users analyze the Collection Services data already turned on and collected daily on most IBM i systems. Like Job Watcher, CSI collects information for all jobs, threads and/or LIC tasks but at a higher level that makes it easier to analyze performance over days and weeks. CSI also provides detailed wait bucket analysis for all jobs/tasks which is used to help pinpoint which jobs are waiting.

Collection Services Investigator is often used with Job Watcher together to help solve performance problems very quickly.

Collection Services Investigator includes:

  • Standard WRKSYSACT type info: CPU, DASD I/O breakdown, DASD space consumption, etc.
  • A breakdown of all types of waits that occurred either system-wide or on a per job basis.
  • Advanced disk graphs for DS6K, DS8K links, ranks and cache statistics.
  • System graphs (multiple LPARs at once), TLBIEs, job counts, and many more!
