Install all the IBM-supplied files into the production and service minidisks. This loads the full product version to support both a database and your users.

Considerations When Generating a Database

You generate a database by specifying parameters to define its maximums. It is recommended that the first time you do so, you use the IBM-supplied set of predefined parameters called the starter database specifications. (See the DB2 Server for VM Program Directory for instructions on how to generate a starter database.) Once you are familiar with how the starter database works, you should delete it and generate your own. Refer to Chapter 2, Planning for Database Generation.
