User's Guide and Reference
This section provides the information you need to install
DB2 Spatial Extender on Windows NT and AIX operating systems.
If you did not already do so, install DB2 Administration Client
(administration tools including the Control Center and the run-time client) on
the client workstation, and install DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Edition
or DB2 Universal Database Enterprise - Extended Edition. Instructions
for doing so are in the appropriate Quick Beginnings book.
To install DB2 Spatial Extender on a Windows NT system:
- Log on to the system with a user name that has the required administration
permissions.
- Shut down any other programs.
- Insert the CD-ROM into the drive. The installation launchpad
opens.
- Optional: Click Release Notes to check the DB2 Spatial
Extender Release Notes for any changes to the installation process, then
return to the DB2 Spatial Extender launchpad.
- Click Install.
- Respond to the setup program's prompts. Online help is
available to guide you through the remaining steps. To invoke online
help, click Help or press the F1 key.
When the installation is complete, DB2 Spatial Extender is installed under
the directory %DB2PATH% (for example,
c:\sqllib).
To install DB2 Spatial Extender on an AIX system:
- Log in as root.
- Insert the CD-ROM into the drive.
- Mount the CD-ROM on your AIX system. For information on mounting a
CD-ROM refer to the IBM DB2 Universal Database for UNIX Quick
Beginnings.
- Change to the directory where the CD-ROM is mounted by entering the
following command:
cd /cdrom
where cdrom is the mount point of the CD-ROM drive on
AIX.
- Enter the db2setup command to start the DB2 installer
program. The Install DB2 Spatial Extender window opens.
Note: | The DB2 installer program will start slowly because it scans your system for
information.

- From the product list of the Install DB2 Spatial Extender window, select
the products that you want to install and click OK.
For more information or assistance when installing DB2 Spatial Extender,
click Help.
When the installation is complete, DB2 Spatial Extender is installed in the
/usr/lpp/db2_07_01 directory.
