Note: The subject of partitioned databases is complex, with a
diverse set of terminology. The term node, for instance, can
mean various things:
- A database partition, or a part of a database that consists of its own
user data, indexes, configuration files, and transaction logs
- A database partition server, or the machine that stores the database
partition
