Before you install the OS/2 warehouse agent, you must remove the Visual Warehouse Version 5.2 or earlier OS/2 agent that is located on that workstation.
To remove the Visual Warehouse OS/2 agent components from your workstation:
Installing a warehouse agent on OS/2 consists of installing the warehouse agent code and cataloging the databases that will be accessed by the agent as ODBC data sources. You can do this by using the ODBC Administrator. To access non-DB2 databases with the installed Data Warehouse Center ODBC drivers, you must install licensed clients for those database types, and the clients must be accessible by the warehouse agent, on the node where the warehouse agent runs.
Before you install the OS/2 warehouse agent:
To install the warehouse agent and executable versions of the sample programs:
You must catalog the DB2 nodes and databases, and register each source and warehouse database that you want to use with the warehouse agent as a system DSN. See the Installation and Configuration Supplement for more information.
When you install the warehouse agent, the warehouse agent daemon is added to your OS/2 Startup folder. When the warehouse agent daemon starts from the OS/2 Startup folder, the daemon runs in a window in a foreground session. While the daemon is running, this window provides status information about the daemon. You can end this session by closing the window.
The warehouse agent creates log files in the directory that is specified by the VWS_LOGGING environment variable. The default value for this variable is C:\SQLLIB\LOGGING.
