Testing group batches

When a group batch is first created, it is, by default, a test batch, and contains only test batch steps. You will probably want to test the batch before you promote it to a production batch that the production satellites will execute. To do this, you must assign some of the satellites in the group to be test satellites.
Note:It is recommended that you use dedicated test satellites.

When you complete the steps for this task, return to Deploying a new group, and continue with the next step.

To test the group batches:

  1. Assign satellites in the group to be test satellites. These satellites will be configured to execute the test batch steps in the test batches.

When the test satellites synchronize, they will obtain the batches and execute them locally.

  2. Enabling the test satellites to execute batches.
  3. If you find that a batch step in a batch does not produce the results that you want, you can edit the batch step.

As long as the batch is a test batch, you can modify it. You can remove, reorder, and change any of the batch steps within the batch until the batch produces the results that you want.

You can use a fix batch to undo the results of a test batch. See Fixing a satellite for details.
