Creating a server

Use the Create Server window to define a remote server to DB2.

Creating a server is one of a series of actions that you perform to work with data in a federated system.

To create a server:

  1. Open the Create Server window.
  2. In the Name for remote data source field, type the name that you want to assign to the remote data source.
  3. In the Server type list, select the type of data source that you want to connect to.
  4. In the Version field, type the version number of the data source that you want to connect to.
  5. In the Node name box, type or select the node name where the data source resides.
  6. For DB2 data sources only: In the Database name box, type or select the type of database that you want to connect to.
  7. Optional: For DB2 data sources only, specify a user ID and password:
    1. In the User ID field, type the user ID that you want to use at the remote database.
    2. In the Password field, type the password for the user ID.
  8. Optional: Click Options to open the Options window and select server options that enable special features that can improve performance.
  9. Click OK to create the server and place the server object in the Control Center.
