Viewing the log message activity

Use the Log window to view log messages that were written to the log during a run of a step, or to help troubleshoot problems for a step. Only steps that have a status of Successful, Failed, Warning, or Canceled will have logs.

From this window, you can also remove log entries.

Note: To change the maximum number of log entries displayed in the Log window, go to the Server page of the Warehouse Properties notebook and change the value in the Purge log when total records equal field.

To sort columns, click the column heading (the result of this action is not saved when you close the window). To save customization changes, you must use the icons in the toolbar (Sort, Filter, and Customize Columns). To resize columns, drag the column margin (the result of this action is saved when you close the window).

To view the log message activity:

  1. Open the Log window.

  1. Optional: To view detailed log information, select a log entry. Right-click and select Show Details. The Log Details window opens. (If you select more than one log object, the Show Details menu item is not available.)

  2. Click Close to return to the Work in Progress window.
