Defining a warehouse

You define a warehouse to the Data Warehouse Center to automate the processes required to populate and maintain the warehouse. Before you define the warehouse:

The database administrator who is responsible for the operational data is a good source for information about the operational data. The business users who will be making business decisions based on the data in the warehouse are a good source for information about the requirements of the warehouse.

To set up the warehouse:

  1. Open the Data Warehouse Center.

  2. Define one or more warehouse groups.

  3. Define one or more warehouse users.

  4. Optionally, define one or more agent sites.

To define warehouse objects for each business area of interest:

  1. Define one or more subject areas.

  2. Define one or more processes within each subject area.

  3. Define one or more warehouse sources:

  1. Define one or more warehouse targets.

  2. Add one or more sources to each process.

  3. Add one or more targets to each process.

  4. Define one or more steps within each process.

  5. Schedule the steps in the process to run.
