Information Catalog Manager User's Guide
An information catalog can be either local (stored on your workstation) or
remote. If an information catalog is remote, you or your remote
database administrator must complete the following tasks:
- Prepare to register the server node and information catalog.
- Register the server node.
- Register the remote information catalog.
Steps 1 and 2 can be completed outside of the Information Catalog Manger
windows. Information catalog administrators or remote database
administrators can use the DB2 Control Center windows to:
- Add a system
- Add an instance
- Add a database
After these steps are completed in the DB2 Control Center, you should shut
down the DB2 Control Center before opening the Information Catalog
Manager. See the DB2 Control Center online help for details.
After the tasks are completed within the DB2 Control Center, you can use

Catalog Manager administrator provides you with the following
information:
- The server name where the information catalog database is located.
- The information catalog name.
- A user ID and password that you can use to access the information
