Performance Configuration SmartGuide -- Overview

For single-partition database environments only. Use the Performance Configuration SmartGuide to generate and apply suggested database manager configuration parameters to your database or to revert to previously saved parameters. Use the pages to enter information about your server, your database, your data, and your database applications. The Results page displays the current and suggested configuration parameters. You can choose to apply these configuration parameters or save them in a script file for later use. Click the Next button to go through the pages of the SmartGuide.

The recommended values are designed to improve though not necessarily to optimize your database system. These values should be thought of as a starting point on which you can make further adjustments to obtain optimized performance. In most cases they will provide better performance than the default values because they are based on information about your workload and your server.

The parameters affected are directed at Data Manipulation Statements (DML). This SmartGuide is not intended to improve the performance of utilities.
