Connectivity Supplement

Connecting DB2 Universal Database for AS/400 in a DRDA Network Using SNA

OS/400 contains DB2 Universal Database for AS/400, the IBM relational database management system for AS/400 systems.

The material in this chapter explains how to configure an AS/400 system to support connectivity:

  1. From DB2 Connect workstations (see Setting Up the Application Server), and

  2. To a DB2 Universal Database server (see Setting Up the Application Requester).

For information on connecting two AS/400 systems, see AS/400 Distributed Database Programming.

DB2 Universal Database for AS/400 Version 4.2 introduces support for DRDA communications using TCP/IP. The main source for information on this topic is also AS/400 Distributed Database Programming, and a summary of the required steps from this manual is presented in Connecting DB2 Universal Database for AS/400 in a DRDA Network Using TCP/IP. The principles are the same as those presented in this chapter, but the network configuration tasks are much simpler.
