Where can I learn more of this advanced function I've heard about without rummaging through all the manuals?

Answer

  1.  Take a DCF class
  2.  Become active at GUIDE or SHARE. Both have active DCF groups. Ask lots
      of questions.
  3.  Browse the TOCs of the various manuals to get an overview of what's in
      them.
  4.  The Imp Guide contains lots of tips and techniques for text programmers
      supporting SCRIPT users.
  5.  Chapter 4 in Lang Ref is a SCRIPT/VS summary and contains an overview
      of control words, command options, system symbols and lots of other
      useful info.
  6.  See the Bookie Technical Notebook (SC34-5012) for information on the
      BookMaster implementation.
