Module Resolution

For every observed PSW address, Application Performance Analyzer attempts to resolve it to either an MVS™ module or USS exec. Application Performance Analyzer is able to do this for all modules that are managed by Content Supervision Services. That is, modules that are brought into memory by MVS services such as: LOAD, LINK, XTCL, ATTACH, ATTACHX, IDENITFY or execs that are brought into memory by UNIX System Services such as exec. Application Performance Analyzer is able to resolve PSW addresses for modules that are in the JPA, LINKLIST, LPA, and Nucleus.

Occasionally, Application Performance Analyzer samples PSW addresses that are not managed by CSV and, therefore, are reported as unresolved. These unresolved addresses belong to modules that are managed by the sampled application itself or by third party products. The Data Extractor Module Resolution permits client sites with knowledge of the sampled application or third party product to resolve these addresses programmatically. If Data Extractor Module Resolution has been activated, the Application Performance Analyzer Sampling Engine calls this exit for all unresolved addresses as described above.
