1.0  Overview

        1.1     This update includes a new device driver for the ServeRAID 8e (Adaptec 
                HostRAID) SCSI controller supporting SLES 10 SP1.

   		     o  ibm_dd_hr94xx_1.2.5936_sles10sp1_x86-64.img
                        - Image for creating a driver update diskette for use during 
                          operating system installation.

   		     o  ibm_dd_hr94xx_1.2.5936_sles10sp1_x86-64.rpm
                        - RPM for upgrading the driver on an existing operating system.


2.0  Installation and setup instructions
________________________________________

  2.1 Updating the device driver
  ______________________________

  This package can be used to update the device driver on an existing Linux 
  installation, or to create a device driver update diskette for use during a 
  new installation.

  For existing installations:
  ---------------------------

  To update the device driver on the local system, you will need the rpm file.
  Download the file into a temporary directory and cd into that directory.  As 
  root, execute the following:

       rpm -Uvh ibm_dd_hr94xx_1.2.5936_sles10sp1_x86-64.rpm

  For new installations:
  ----------------------

  To create a device driver update diskette, you will need the img file which
  matches your Linux distribution.  Download the file into a temporary
  directory and cd into that directory.  Insert a blank diskette into the
  floppy drive, then execute the following:

	dd if=ibm_dd_hr94xx_1.2.5936_sles10sp1_x86-64.img of=<floppy>
  
  where <floppy> is generally /dev/fd0 for an IDE floppy driver, or /dev/sda 
  for a USB floppy drive.
