Before You Install Data Protection for Lotus Domino ------------------------------------------------------ Data Protection for Lotus Domino Components ------------------------------------------- - The following components are included with Data Protection for Lotus Domino 5.3.0: - Graphical User Interface (GUI) - Command Line Interface (CLI) - Domino Plug-In for Web Client Software Requirements --------------------- - Data Protection for Lotus Domino 5.3.0 requires the following software: - Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server, or Datacenter Server with SP1, or later, or Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, or Datacenter Edition. - Lotus Domino server R5.0.1 or later, or R6.0.x, or R6.5.x installed on the same machine as Data Protection for Lotus Domino - IBM Tivoli Storage Manager API 5.3.0, or later - IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server 5.1.0, or later IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server does not have to be on the same machine as Data Protection for Lotus Domino and may be running on any platform supported by IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server. - IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive Client 5.3.0, or later Required only if the central scheduler service or the Web User Interface of the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive Client will be used. If so, the Backup-Archive Client must reside on the same machine as Data Protection for Lotus Domino. Hardware Requirements --------------------- - Data Protection for Lotus Domino 5.3.0 requires the following hardware: - Intel Pentium 166 or higher, or equivalent or later processor - 64 MB of RAM (128 MB or more is highly recommended) - 14 MB of free disk space Note: If you are installing using the electronically downloaded single .exe file, you may need several additional MB of free space in your Windows system and temporary directories. This self-starting, self-extracting file requires additional temporary working space. ---------------------------------------------- 2. Installing Data Protection for Lotus Domino ---------------------------------------------- Installing Data Protection for Lotus Domino ------------------------------------------- Data Protection for Lotus Domino is available in the following packages: o Paid in Full This package contains a license component and is a complete stand-alone release of the product. o Program Temporary Fix (PTF) This package does not contain a license component. It is created to install over a previously installed version of Data Protection for Lotus Domino. NOTE: When upgrading to a PTF over a previously installed PAID version of the client, the installation location MUST remain the default setting indicated in the installation dialog. While it is possible to change this setting, doing so will cause a client failure due to an invalid license file. If there is a need to change the installation location for the client, remove the PAID version, reinstall to the desired location, then install the PTF version. o Try and Buy This package contains a license component that allows installation and use for sixty days. Contact your IBM representative for details on obtaining this package. - Installing from CD If you have the autorun feature enabled the setup program will start as soon as you insert the CD into the drive. If setup does not start automatically when you insert the CD, you can either double click on setup.exe using the Windows explorer or go to the root directory of the CD and issue: setup. The installation program will start and will present instructions on how to proceed. Read the instructions that are displayed on each panel, fill in any required information and click on the Next buttons. If an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager product is detected, the path to that product becomes the default base installation directory. If you are installing from CD a readme file will be available for your review. - Self-extracting installation image (downloaded from the web) This will unpack to a temporary directory (approximately 26 MBs). You are given a chance to choose this location (default is the system TEMP path). The install does not remove this temporary directory and files. After unpacking, setup will be started automatically. - SILENT installation: - SILENT INSTALLATION USING SETUP.EXE - Change directory to the "main install" sub-directory (where setup.exe exists) and enter the following command for a typical installation to the default installation path: setup /s /v/qn - To run a silent custom installation enter the following: setup /s /v"INSTALLDIR=\"c:\program files\tivoli\tsm\" ADDLOCAL=\"Client,Docs,Plugin,License_Paid\" TRANSFORMS=1033.mst /qn /l*v \"e:\log.txt\"" - Please NOTE the following while using this silent installation process: - There are special formatting rules that you need to follow when passing a parameter in this way. First, you need to place a back slash (\) in front of each quotation mark that is within an outer set of quotes. For example, the command line above contains the following: setup /s /v"INSTALLDIR=\"c:\program files\tivoli\tsm\" |___________||____________________________| ADDLOCAL=\"Client,Docs,Plugin,License_Paid\" |________||________________________________| TRANSFORMS=1033.mst /qn /l*v \"e:\log.txt\"" |__________________||_| |__| |_____________| Because the install path includes spaces, you need to use quotes. Quotes are also needed around multiple features. However, because you need to have quotes around the complete argument, if you don't use the back slash in front of each internal quote, the command-line statement will fail. - Also, there cannot be a space between the command-line option (/v) and the arguments that you are passing, as shown in the above example. - When running a custom installation silently, all features should be listed in the "ADDLOCAL=" property. a breakdown of the above example reads as follows: setup - launches the setup program in the current directory. /s - specifies silent mode for setup. /v - specifies start of MSI command line arguments (delimited by ""). INSTALLDIR=\"c:\program files\tivoli\tsm\" - explicit declaration of the installation directory. ADDLOCAL=\"Client,Docs,Plugin,License_Paid\" - explicit declaration of features to install. TRANSFORMS=1033.mst /qn" - explicit declaration of language transform. /qn - specifies quite mode for msi. /l*v - specifies verbose logging. \"e:\log.txt\" - specifies output to logfile. - SILENT INSTALLATION USING MSI If you are running Windows 2000 or higher, or, if you have previously installed MSIEXEC.EXE on your Windows NT system (msiexec.exe will be in the "winnt/system32" directory), you can bypass setup.exe and directly install the msi package. - To run a silent custom installation enter the following: msiexec /i "IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail - Lotus Domino.msi" RebootYesNo="No" Reboot="Suppress" ALLUSERS=1 INSTALLDIR="c:\program files\tivoli\tsm" ADDLOCAL="Client,Docs,Plugin,License_Paid\" TRANSFORMS=1033.mst /qn /l*v "e:\log.txt" - Please NOTE the following while using this silent installation process: - When running a custom installation silently, all features should be listed in the "ADDLOCAL=" property. a breakdown of the above example reads as follows: msiexec - launches msi. /i - specifies "installation". (replace with /x to remove package) "IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail - Lotus Domino.msi" - specifies .msi package to install RebootYesNo="No" REBOOT="Suppress" - specifies that no reboot should be performed NOTE: REBOOT values include - "Force" Always prompts user for reboot at installation conclusion. System automatically reboots if no user interface exists. - "Suppress" Suppresses prompt for a reboot at installation conclusion. Also, all "ForceReboot" actions encountered during installation will prompt for a reboot. The system automatically reboots at each ForceReboot encounter. - "ReallySuppress" Suppresses all reboots and reboot prompts initiated by ForceReboot during the installation. ALLUSERS=1 - specifies that the package is for all users (required) INSTALLDIR="c:\program files\tivoli\tsm\" - explicit declaration of the installation directory. ADDLOCAL="Client,Docs,Plugin,License_Paid\" - explicit declaration of features to install. TRANSFORMS=1033.mst /qn" - explicit declaration of language transform. /qn - specifies quite mode for msi. /l*v - specifies verbose logging. "e:\log.txt" - specifies output to logfile. - The current list of features and transforms are as follows: Silent installation features (base client only): Feature Feature Description --------------------------------------------------------- Client Main Domino Client License_Paid Paid License (Paid version ONLY) License_TryBuy Trybuy License (TryBuy version ONLY) Plugin Domino Plug-in (enables the Web client GUI) Silent installation features (Language Packages only): Feature Feature Description --------------------------------------------------------- LanguageFiles Main Domino Client Silent installation transforms: Transform Language -------------------------------------- 1028.mst CHT Chinese (traditional) 1029.mst CSY Czech 1031.mst DEU German 1033.mst ENG English 1034.mst ESP Spanish 1036.mst FRA French 1038.mst HUN Hungarian 1040.mst ITA Italian 1041.mst JPN Japanese 1042.mst KOR Korean 1045.mst PLK Polish 1046.mst PTB Portuguese 1049.mst RUS Russian 2052.mst CHS Chinese (simplified) Setup ----- - Refer to the "Data Protection for Lotus Domino Installation and User's Guide" for information on how to set up your application client. Scroll down the list of programs displayed and find and highlight the 'IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail - Lotus Domino' entry. Follow the directions in the dialogs to remove the product. - Uninstallation of Plugin Feature issue: There is an intermittent issue When uninstalling the "Plugin" feature of the Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail: Data Protection for Lotus Domino Version 5.3.0.1 Client on Windows 2003 systems. The following file maybe left behind after an uninstallation. (INSTALLPATH)\baclient\plugins\pidom.dll It is safe to delete this file AFTER the uninstallation completes. --------------------- 3. Late-Breaking News --------------------- What's New ---------- - What's new in the Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail: Data Protection for Lotus Domino Version 5.3.0: - Backup and restore Domino databases and transaction log files using the Tivoli Storage Manager Web Client and Java GUI. - Globalization for the following additional languages: Czech, Hungarian, Polish, and Russian. - AES 128-bit data encryption support added. - Enhanced logged error messages to TSM server. - User's Guide enhancements: new "Quick Start," "Best Practices," and "Frequently Asked Questions" sections. - Language support is now shipped via Language Packs. All languages (except for English) are now shipped as separately installable packages. Documentation Updates --------------------- - A new version of the "Data Protection for Lotus Domino Installation and User's Guide" is available with this package. - The term "&agentname;" found in the DATEFORMAT, TIMEFORMAT, and LOGPRUNE descriptions, refers to the product, Data Protection for Domino. Known Problems and Limitations ------------------------------ - Tivoli Storage Manager Web Client GUI 1. The 'Inspected' value in the Backup Report window for and incremental backup does not include databases that were inspected but did not meet the incremental requirements. 2. The Backup Report window does not display the percentage by which an object is compressed in the 'Compressed By' progress bar. 3. The Restore Report window for an Activate with applylogs operation that requires logs to be restored from the TSM server, does not so the restore progress for each transaction log file extent that is restored. Only the name of the file is shown. 4. The Restore Report window for an Activate operation displays the number of databases activated under the 'Restored' label. 5. The Restore Report window for an Inactivate operation display the number of transaction log extents inactivated under the 'Restored' label. 6. The Information panel for a transaction log extent file does not display the Logger ID. 7. Domino objects are not supported by the new Search and Filter feature of the Web Client and Java GUI. - A backup of a Domino R5 database is marked corrupt after a restore and activate with apply logs on a Domino 6 server. When attempting to apply logs to the R5 backup, after all of the logs are applied to the database, the Domino server intentionally marks the database corrupt. It does this because the Domino 6 server needs to rebuild the view indexes in the database file. All of the data within the database itself is good. There are two ways to resolve this: Resolution 1: Run a fixup on the database. Open the database. Resolution 2: Use a Domino R5 alternate server to restore the database. Refer to Data Protection for Lotus Domino Installation and User's Guide for instructions on how to perform alternate server restores. - Data Protection for Lotus Domino displays messages that are generated by the Lotus C API for Domino and Notes. The Lotus C API for Domino and Notes does not translate these messages, as a result, they are displayed in English. - Data Protection for Lotus Domino displays messages that are generated by the Tivoli Storage Manager API. The default language for the Tivoli Storage Manager API is English. To change the language for these messages, edit the Tivoli Storage Manager API options file, dsm.opt, and set the LANGUAGE option to the desired value. - APAR PQ59106. When client sessions are disabled and the current session canceled on the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server, Data Protection for Lotus Domino attempts to reconnect to the server for each database that remains to be backed up or restored. - The Backup-Archive client DSMC HELP command does not display help for the Data Protection for Lotus Domino plugin option, DOMNODE. Please refer to the Data Protection for Lotus Domino User's Guide for a description of the DOMNODE option. --------------- 4.
