New Drive Support ----------------- 1. Exabyte VXA320 2. IBM 25R0045 New Library Support ------------------- 1. Fujitsu ETERNUS LT160 2. IBM 87691VX For more information on devices supported by the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager device driver, please point your web browser to the following URL: http://www-3.ibm.com/software/sysmgmt/products/support/IBM_TSM_Supported_Devices_for_AIXHPSUNWIN.html http://www-3.ibm.com/software/sysmgmt/products/support/IBM_TSM_Supported_Devices_for_Linux.html StorPort Driver Support ----------------------- The Tivoli Storage Manager device driver version 5.3.3 and hotfix 901371 are required. See more information on this hot fix at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/901371. This hotfix should be available end of May 2006. Host Bus Adapter Requirements ----------------------------- It is highly recommended that Tape Drives and Tape Libraries be connected to the system on their own host bus adapter and not share with other devices types (DISK, CDROM, etc.). Optical Devices on Solaris -------------------------- On Solaris, if the Volume Management daemon (vold) is enabled, it may manage and control the optical devices which are used by the TSM server. To prevent the Volume Management daemon from managing removable disks including optical devices, comment out the following line in /etc/vold.conf. use rmdisk drive /dev/rdsk/c*s2 dev_rmdisk.so rmdisk%d Users can also modify /etc/vold.conf to allow specific devices not used by the TSM server to be used by the Volume Management daemon. See the man page for vold.conf for more information. Emulex HBA Driver for Solaris ----------------------------- To avoid TSM server hangs, the Emulex HBA driver version 6.02f or later for Solaris is recommended. ******************************************************************************* Drive Information ******************************************************************************* ========================== Exabyte VXA320 Tape Drive ========================== 1. When defining a device class for a Exabyte VXA320 drive, use o devtype=8MM o format= Example: DEFine DEVclass devclassname DEVType=8MM FORMAT=VXA3 ..... DEFine DEVclass devclassname DEVType=8MM FORMAT=VXA3C ..... VXA3 - Specifies that IBM Tivoli Storage Manager writes data that uses the VXA3 recording format. This format results in a cartridge capacity of 160GB when using VXA X23 media. VXA3C - Specifies that IBM Tivoli Storage Manager writes data that uses the VXA3C recording format with compression. This format results in a cartridge capacity of 320GB when using VXA X23 media. 2. Exabyte VXA320 drive has a data compression ratio of 2:1 3. Device identification and firmware level Drive ID : Exabyte VXA-3 Firmware : 3106 4. Supported media o X23 Media (230 Meter) 5. Exabyte VXA320 drive reports drive serial number. ============================= IBM 25R0045 VXA320 Tape Drive ============================= 1. IBM 25R0045 VXA320 drive reports drive serial number. ******************************************************************************* Library Information ******************************************************************************* o IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Extended Edition is required for a library with greater than 3 drives or greater than 40 storage slots. o The following figures depict the default element addresses of tape libraries. Element addresses are used by IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server to address the tape drives and the storage slots contained by a SCSI Library/Autochanger. The element addresses of the storage slots may not directly correspond to the storage slot numbers. This is important because IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server will always reference storage slots by element addresses, not storage slot numbers. o For a library with multiple drives, a drive element address is required for the DEFINE/UPDATE DRIVE command. However, if the library reports drive serial numbers, ELEMent=AUTODetect is supported and the element address is not required. o For the procedure to configure the autochanger and each drive in the library separately, see the 'Configuring a Tape Drive, or Autochanger' section of the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Administrator's Guide. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Library Information for Fujitsu ETERNUS LT160 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Addresses Addresses of Addresses of Addresses of Model #s of Drive Storage Slots Medium Changer Entry/Exit Slots --------------- ----------- ------------- -------------- ---------------- A20 500 - 520 1000 - 1628 0 10 - 29 A32 500 - 532 1000 - 1466 0 10 - 29 Notes: 1.
