Tivoli Ready Enablement
=======================

With the purchase of an IBM software product that carries the Tivoli
Ready logo, you have the ability to manage your IBM software products 
through the Tivoli Enterprise management products, allowing you to 
automatically discover, monitor, and inventory one or more Tivoli 
Ready applications.

How to Get Started
==================

IBM software products that are Tivoli Ready can be managed through 
either the Tivoli Enterprise Console (TEC), or through Tivoli Global 
Enterprise Manager (GEM).  Supported TME configurations include 
managing IBM applications that are installed on TME managed nodes, 
PC managed nodes and endpoints in a distributed environment.

Tivoli Ready Support for Tivoli Storage Manager for Sun Solaris
======================================================

This Tivoli Ready instrumentation, when configured, provides you with
the ability to:
  
  - graphically view the health of Tivoli Storage Manager for Sun Solaris through Tivoli
    Global Enterprise Manager 2.2 or Tivoli Enterprise Console (TEC)
    3.1 or higher consoles.   
     
  - inventory Tivoli Storage Manager for Sun Solaris using Tivoli Inventory version 3.2.

         
To install and configure your instrumentation follow the steps 
described below:

  1) Unpack the Tivoli Storage Manager for Sun Solaris Tivoli Ready instrumentation package:

     Untar the Tivoli Ready instrumentation package (tsm37Sun Solaris.tar)
     into a temporary directory. You will find the following files:

	Sun_ADSM.amp
	Sun_ADSM_Server3_7_0.slf
	tivready.dsm
    
  2) Place the slf files on the system(s) to be monitored:

     The slf files are used by the monitoring software contained in 
     the Tivoli Ready Enablement package to monitor the state of the 
     servers across your enterprise when used with the TEC and/or 
     Tivoli GEM products.  Your Tivoli Administrator will need to 
     install and configure the Tivoli Ready Enablement package to 
     activate the monitoring.

     copy the following files into the directory /etc/tivready/monitorslfs
     on each machine you intend to monitor:

	Sun_ADSM_Server3_7_0.slf	

    3) To enable Tivoli Storage Manager for Sun Solaris for Tivoli Inventory your Tivoli          
       administrator needs to copy the Tivoli Storage Manager for Sun Solaris signature file 
       to a directory within the Tivoli Storage Manager for Sun Solaris machine that is 
       defined in the current Tivoli Inventory Profile to be scanned.
       The Tivoli Stoarge Manager for Sun Solaris Tivoli Ready signature file is: 
        
          tivready.dsm 

      The file (tivready.dsm) may need to have execution 
     permission set to on.  They should be set correctly when you
     extract the files from the tar file.  However, if these files
     are FTP'd to another machine the permissions may get changed.
     So, check the permissions and set them if necessary.  This can
     be accomplished by running: "chmod a+x" on each of those files. 
   

    4) Your Tivoli administrator needs to install and configure the 
       Tivoli GEM 2.2 Tivoli Ready Enablement on all the machines that
       you intend to monitor.  To download the Tivoli Ready Enablement
       and detailed instructions on how to install it and use it,
       refer to the following URL:

    5) The Tivoli GEM 2.2 Tivoli Ready Enablement is installed with a 
       set of default configuration values.  For detailed information
       on customizing your configuration refer to the GEM 2.2 Tivoli

    6) To enable Tivoli Storage Manager for Sun Solaris for Tivoli Global Enterprise 
       Management (GEM) version 2.2 your Tivoli administrator needs to 
       import the .amp file into the GEM as described in the GEM 2.2 
       documentation.  Your Tivoli Storage Manager for Sun Solaris AMP file is: 
        
         Sun_ADSM.amp
