Lisa (22KHz) Voice for WebSphere® Voice Server Version 5.1.3.3

This document contains information about the new fifth generation 22KHz voice, Lisa. You can install this voice separately and the voice does not need to be selected during the WebSphere Voice Server version 5.1.3 installation.
This readme contains the following information:
The 22KHz Lisa voice is a US English female voice that can be used with WebSphere Voice Server 5.1.3.3 (or later). Lisa is a smoother, more natural sounding voice.

Follow the instructions that are appropriate for your operating system to install the voice:
Prerequisites
Prior to installing the new voice, make sure you meet the following requirements:
- Software:
Verify that WebSphere Voice Server 5.1.3.3 is installed.
Verify that en-US TTS is installed. Note: If you have WVS 5.1.3.3 installed and need to add en-US TTS, make sure you uninstall FP3 before adding en-US TTS.
Verify that 5th generation (8KHz) Lisa voice is NOT installed.
Verify that ifix LI73605 is installed. You will need to apply this ifix to use voiceTest with 22KHz TTS voices.
- Hardware:
An additional 1 GB of memory is required. Also the installation requires 3 GB of memory in the /opt file system to decompress and install the voice. If the required space is not available, expand the partition or delete files that are not longer necessary.
Note 1: Due to operating system memory limitations, WebSphere Voice Server can only support
a limited number of fifth generation voices. See Estimating resources for TTS engines in the WebSphere Voice Server information center for more information.
Note 2: Websphere Voice Server does not support simultaneous usage of 8KHz and 22Khz TTS voices. Once a 22KHz voice is installed, the server must be configured to only load 22KHz voices (see step 8 in the install instructions below).
Installing the voice
This voice is delivered in this file: LI73597.tar
Complete the following steps to install the voice:
- Stop WebSphere Application Server.
- Create a local directory of your choice
- Change to the local directory or your choice and copy LI73597.tar to that same location
- Untar the file:
tar -xvf LI73597.tar
- Change directory to Lisa22K.
- Start the voice installation script by running the following command:
./setup.bin
The installation GUI will launch and provide status messages and instructions.
Note: You must accept the default installation path during the installation. Doing so ensures that the configuration information is correctly updated for WebSphere Voice Server. Do not enter another directory or use the browse button to change the installation path.
- If a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is not found, specify the location of the JVM included with WebSphere Application Server with the following parameter:
-is:javahome /usr/WebSphere/AppServer/java/jre
- IMPORTANT: Once the installation completes without any errors, change the WebSphere Voice Server configuration by editing the following properties in $WVS_ROOT/config/cwv.properties:
- Rename com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.default-voice= to com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.default-voice.8KHz
- Rename com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.voices to com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.voices.8KHz
- Add the following line: com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.default-voice=Lisa
- Add the following line: com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.voices=Lisa
This should cause WVS to only load the newly installed 22Khz voice the next time you restart the server.
- Restart WebSphere Application Server:
The voice is now installed.

Verify that ifix IC57378 is installed. You will need to apply this ifix to use voiceTest with 22KHz TTS voices.
- Hardware:
An additional 1 GB of memory is required. Also the installation requires 3 GB of memory in the /usr file system to decompress and install the voice. If the required space is not available and there is adequate space in its volume group, expand the file system using the chfs command or SMIT or uninstall products that are no longer necessary.
Note 1: Due to operating system memory limitations, WebSphere Voice Server can only support
a limited number of fifth generation voices. See Estimating resources for TTS engines in the WebSphere Voice Server information center for more information.
Note 2: Websphere Voice Server does not support simultaneous usage of 8KHz and 22Khz TTS voices. Once a 22KHz voice is installed, the server must be configured to only load 22KHz voices (see step 8 in the install instructions below).
Installing the voice
This voice is delivered in this file: IC57302.zip
Complete the following steps to install the voice:
- Stop WebSphere Application Server.
- Create a local directory of your choice and unzip IC57302.zip into that same location
- Change to the local directory or your choice
- Change directory to Lisa22K.
- Start the voice installation script by running the following command:
setup.exe
The installation GUI will launch and provide status messages and instructions.
Note: You must accept the default installation path during the installat
Notes:
- If Terminal Services is installed on your Windows 2003 system, run the following command to remove restrictions on reading configuration information:
change user /install
- You must accept the default installation path during the installation. Doing so ensures that the configuration information is correctly updated for WebSphere Voice Server. Do not enter another directory or use the browse button to change the installation path.
- If a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is not found, specify the location of the JVM included with WebSphere Application Server with the following parameter:
-is:javahome %WAS_ROOT%/java/jre
%WAS_ROOT% is the installation location of WebSphere Application Server.
- IMPORTANT: Once the installation completes without any errors, change the WebSphere Voice Server configuration by editing the following properties in %WVS_ROOT%\config\cwv.properties:
- Rename com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.default-voice= to com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.default-voice.8KHz
- Rename com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.voices to com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.voices.8KHz
- Add the following line: com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.default-voice=Lisa
- Add the following line: com.ibm.voice.server.voice.synth.voices=Lisa
This should cause WVS to only load the newly installed 22Khz voice the next time you restart the server.
- Restart WebSphere Application Server:
The voice is now installed.

If necessary, complete the following steps to uninstall the voice:
- Prior to uninstalling Lisa, change the WebSphere Voice Server configuration to only load the default 8KHz voices, by changing the following lines in $WVS_ROOT/config/cwv.properties:
- Delete com.ibm.voice.server.synth.default-voice=Lisa
- Delete com.ibm.voice.server.synth.voices=Lisa
- Rename com.ibm.voice.server.synth.default-voice.8KHz to com.ibm.voice.server.synth.default-voice
- Rename com.ibm.voice.server.synth.voices.8KHz to com.ibm.voice.server.synth.voices
- Restart WebSphere Application Server.
- Open the administrative console, make sure that Webpshere Voice Server started correctly and that the 22KHz voice is no longer being loaded.
- Stop WebSphere Application Server.
- Change directory to the $WVS_ROOT/IBM/uninstallers/_uninst_ibmtts_En_US_Voice_7at22KHz directory and run the uninstallation script:
./uninstaller.bin
- The uninstallation script will provide status messages and instructions.
The voice is now uninstalled.
If necessary, complete the following steps to uninstall the voice:
- Prior to uninstalling Lisa, change the WebSphere Voice Server configuration to only load the default 8KHz voices, by changing the following lines in %WVS_ROOT%\config\cwv.properties:
- Delete com.ibm.voice.server.synth.default-voice=Lisa
- Delete com.ibm.voice.server.synth.voices=Lisa
- Rename com.ibm.voice.server.synth.default-voice.8KHz to com.ibm.voice.server.synth.default-voice
- Rename com.ibm.voice.server.synth.voices.8KHz to com.ibm.voice.server.synth.voices
- Restart WebSphere Application Server.
- Open the administrative console, make sure that Webpshere Voice Server started correctly and that the 22KHz voice is no longer being loaded.
- Stop WebSphere Application Server.
- Change directory to %WVS_ROOT%/IBM/uninstallers/_uninst_ibmtts_En_US_Voice_7at22KHz and run the uninstallation script:
uninstaller.exe
- The uninstallation script will provide status messages and instructions.
The voice is now uninstalled.
