Welcome to IBM WebSphere Message Broker. This is the readme file for Version 6.1 of the Tooling and Runtime components.
This readme describes known problems, and contains documentation updates that were not available in time to be included in the online information center.
Always use the latest version of this readme file, which you can find (in English only) at:
http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006917
Translated versions of the readme file are available from: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/integration/wbibrokers/docs/V6.1
To complete installation, refer to the WebSphere Message Broker Installation Guide. This includes information about tasks you must complete before you install the product. Access the Installation Guide online in the IBM Publications Center at:

Versions: For the latest status on which particular versions of operating system and databases
are supported by WebSphere Message Broker, consult the WebSphere MQ Family Supported Software pages at:
http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27007065
This section outlines the restrictions and limitations of WebSphere Message Broker, by component.
SupportPac SA02 (WebSphere Service Registry and Repository Eclipse plug-in) allows developers to interact with the WebSphere Service Registry and Repository server to create, retrieve, and update artefacts through the Message Broker Toolkit.
This SupportPac is currently not supported when using Message Broker Version 6.1 and might cause your Toolkit to become unusable, requiring a complete reinstallation of the Toolkit.
The supplied installation media for WebSphere Message Broker Version 6.1 include a copy of DB2 Enterprise Server Version 9.1 Fix Pack 3, which is subject to APAR IZ05854.
The db2chgpath script, which is typically used to change the library paths inside DB2 binaries when applying a special build, might change the library paths incorrectly. This can happen only if the current DB2 installation path contains the default installation path for the given plaform. For example, on AIX:
current installation path: /usr/opt/IBM/db2/V9.1
default installation path: /opt/IBM/db2/V9.1
(/opt/IBM/db2/V9.1 is a substring of /usr/opt/IBM/db2/V9.1).
If the problem occurs after running db2chgpath, most DB2 commands (including db2iupdt and db2start) fail with shared library load errors. For example, on AIX:
$ db2ilist exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program /usr/opt/IBM/db2/V9.1/ bin/db2greg because of the following errors: 0509-150 Dependent module /(/libdb2osse.a) could not be loaded. 0509-022 Cannot load module /(/libdb2osse.a). 0509-026 System error: A file or path name is too long.
The problem was first introduced in DB2 Universal Database V9.1 Fix Pack 3, and affects all UNIX and Linux platforms.
Local fixes:
$ db2chgpath -f instance/native/install/libdb2install_install.a $ db2chgpath -f lib64/db2o.o $ db2chgpath -f lib64/libdb2.a $ db2chgpath -f lib64/libdb2e.a $ db2chgpath -f lib64/libdb2install.a
Do not run db2chgpath without any arguments (which causes the entire instance to be updated), or against any individual files that are not changed in the special build.
Chapter 4 of the WebSphere Message Broker Installation Guide describes the contents of the physical media packages. The descriptions of the Message Broker Toolkit CDs and the Supplemental CDs are incorrect as follows:
The section "Installing in silent mode" on page 100 contains a list of steps that you need to follow to install the Message Broker Toolkit in silent mode. The example commands shown in step 2 are incorrect and should be replaced with the following commands:
where mbtoolkit-silent.xml is the name of the response file.
Alternatively, you can install the Toolkit using the batch/sh file supplied on Disk 1. The installToolkit-silent.bat file installs the Toolkit with default paths and settings using the mbtoolkit-silent.xml response file. The second batch file supplied on Disk 1 (installToolkit.bat) installs the Toolkit in graphical mode.
