This document addresses compatibility, installation, migration, upgrading, and configuration issues.
IBM® WebSphere® Integration Developer is the "one tool, one set of skills" solution for end-to-end integration in your service-oriented architecture (SOA). Based on Eclipse technology, WebSphere Integration Developer 6.1 helps you build SOA-based business process management (BPM) and integration solutions across WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere ESB, and WebSphere Adapters. It simplifies integration with rich features that accelerate the adoption of SOA by rendering existing IT assets as service components, which encourages reuse and efficiency. It helps you assemble complex business solutions—whether processes, mediations, adapters, or code components—with ease. In WebSphere Integration Developer, you construct process and integration solutions using drag-and-drop technology to define, in a visual way, the sequence and flow of your business processes.
The WebSphere Integration Developer 6.1 announcement is available at:

Previous versions of WebSphere Integration Developer cannot be upgraded to version 6.1. For example, WebSphere Integration Developer 6.0.2 cannot be upgraded to WebSphere Integration Developer 6.1. Different versions of WebSphere Integration Developer can co-exist on your workstation, but they must not be installed in the same directory.
WebSphere Integration Developer 6.1 does not support Microsoft® Windows® 2000.
System requirements for WebSphere Integration Developer 6.1 are in the following document: WebSphere Integration Developer detailed system requirements.

Installation
At time of publication, there were no known installation problems.
Migration
At time of publication, the following migration problems were known:
WebSphere Integration Developer 6.1 introduces a new editor and a new file format for XML maps that are used in mediation modules. In previous releases, XML maps had the *.xmx extension. In WebSphere Integration Developer 6.1, the extension is now *.map. XML maps that were created in 6.0.x releases of WebSphere Integration Developer can be brought into 6.1 and will run in WebSphere Integration Developer 6.1. However, if you need to change these maps (which includes making changes that might be needed as a result of refactoring other artifacts that the older maps rely on), you must first migrate the XML maps to the *.map format using the migration tools. WebSphere Integration Developer help documentation describes how to migrate 6.0.x XML maps to the 6.1 format.
Upgrade
At time of publication, the following upgrade problems were known:
WebSphere Integration Developer 6.0.2 and 6.1 projects cannot be used in WebSphere Integration Developer 6.0.1. When you upgrade to WebSphere Integration Developer 6.0.2 or 6.1, you cannot take projects back to WebSphere Integration Developer 6.0.1.x. Support is also not available if you are using 6.0.2 or 6.1 and want to check your code into a repository or if you want to export projects and then share these projects with a WebSphere Integration Developer 6.0.1 user.
Configuration
At time of publication, the following configuration problems were known:
Updates, limitations, and known problems and workarounds for WebSphere Integration Developer 6.1 and WebSphere Process Server 6.1 might also be documented in other techdocs or technotes on the IBM Software Support Web site.
