The Component Test tools let you define and execute testcases. They support three sorts of testcase: manual, Java, and HTTP. You can also create report generators to work with your testcase data.
Before you can use the Component Test tools to execute testcases, you must install the WebSphere Studio version of the IBM Agent Controller on your system. If you have a different version of the IBM Agent Controller already installed, you should uninstall it first. To install the WebSphere Studio version of the IBM Agent Controller, insert the WebSphere Studio installation CD and select Install IBM Agent Controller from the main installation window. By default, once installed, Agent Controller starts automatically when it is installed and then whenever you start your system. For instructions on starting or stopping Agent Controller, refer to the online help.
When you run a testcase on a host, you may be prompted for a password, according to the Remote Agent Controller's security policies for the host. See the documentation for the Remote Agent Controller for information on host security.
Because HTTP testcase executions do not time out on requests, you may need to stop the testcase if it contains a request that cannot be completed. For example, if you have a POST request with no body defined, you will need to explicitly stop the testcase and correct the error before retrying. You can stop the testcase by clicking Stop on its pop-up menu in the Outline pane.
If your Java or HTTP testcase instance, execution, or project contains non-Latin characters, the testcase execution will be logged incorrectly. No events will be recorded and the overall testcase result will be shown as a Soft Fail, regardless of the actual events and result.
