Description

This readme provides information about the patch available in this interim fix.

This fix can be installed on IBM® WebSphere® RFID Premises Server 1.1.0.1 to correct an Application Level Events (ALE) engine memory leak. The leak results from stale tag read events in the tag event repository. The tag reads are not properly cleared. This fix activates the tag removal capability.

This interim fix for WebSphere RFID Premises Server supports the hardware and software versions listed on the system requirements page.

Installing the fix

Use these instructions to install the interim fix on an existing installation of WebSphere RFID Premises Server 1.1.0.1.

Important: Before installing this fix, make a backup of your current IBM_Premises_Common_Services.ear file in case you need to return to your previous configuration.

  1. Unzip the APAR ZIP file, IC50404.zip, included in this fix to a local directory, such as C:\IC50404.
  2. Start WebSphere Application Server.
  3. Stop the "IBM Premises Common Services" application by navigating to Applications -> Enterprise Applications in the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console, selecting the checkbox beside "IBM Premises Common Services", and clicking Stop.
  4. Then, uninstall the "IBM Premises Common Services" application by selecting the checkbox beside "IBM Premises Common Services" and clicking Uninstall.
  5. Save your configuration changes.
  6. Install the new "IBM Premises Common Services" application from the IBM_Premises_Common_Services.ear. To install the application, navigate to Applications -> Install New Application WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console. Then browse to the local path of the IBM_Premises_Common_Services.ear file. Choose the appropriate installation options for your configuration. Be sure to select the check box for Deploy EJBs and select the correct back-end folder for the database you are using (either DB2 or Oracle).
  7. Save your configuration changes.
  8. Start the "IBM Premises Common Services" application by navigating to Applications -> Enterprise Applications in the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console, selecting the checkbox beside "IBM Premises Common Services", and clicking Start.
  9. Restart WebSphere Application Server.
