About this fix pack

This fix pack contains fixes and minor improvements for the IBM® WebSphere® Presence Server, Version 6.1.0.2 release.

Fix and update history

This fix pack includes fixes for the following APARs:

APAR LI71841 :

  1. When Presence Server notifies a subscriber on a group with a related RLMI document, it adds two hyphens at the end of the boundary following the last body part to indicate the end of the RLMI document.
  2. Presence Server has produced RLMI documents in which resources' URIs were missing the "sip" scheme. This issue was fixed.
  3. Presence Server has generated noncompliant RLMI documents in which the name has appeared as an attribute inside the resource element. The location of the name was corrected so that it appears as an element under the resource element in the RLMI document.
  4. Presence server has generated notifications with incorrect Content-ID header value encapsulation. Content-ID header value encapsulation was fixed by changing angle brackets to quotes.

Old header: Content-ID: <example@ibm.com> (in angle brackets)

Correct header: Content-ID: "example@ibm.com" (in quotes)

  1. Content-Transfer-Encoding: A binary header was added to each body part in the RLMI document.
  2. The charset parameter was added to the Content-Type: application/rlmi+xml header. The corrected header is Content-Type: application/rlmi+xml;charset="UTF-8"
  3. When more than one Supported: header exists, Presence Server takes all of them into consideration. As a result, requests are processed correctly even when the Supported:eventlist header does not appear in the first position.
  4. Presence Server has included a noncompliant event header in the SUBSCRIBE request it sends to GLS. Dashes were missing in the profile-type parameter, and the following mandatory parameters were missing: vendor, model, version. The header is fixed as in the following example:

Event: ua-profile;profile-type="application";vendor="IBM";model="PresenceServer";version="1"

Installation instructions

Before you begin:

  1. Log in to the operating system as the actual root user in a UNIX environment.
  2. Log in with the same root user authority level when unpacking a fix, fix pack, or refresh pack.

To apply the fix pack, complete the following steps:

  1. Copy the file IBM_WebSphere_Presence_Server_6.1.0.2.tar.gz to a temporary location.
  2. Extract the file you copied in step one. After extracting this file you will get a directory IBM_WebSphere_Presence_Server_6.1.0.2 with two subdirectories: Database_Setup and Server_application.
  3. Copy the file WebSpherePresenceServerEAR.ear (from the Server_application subdirectory) to was_root/installableApps /, where was_root is the directory where WebSphere Application Server is installed.
  4. Because of changes in the Presence database tables, you must drop the old tables and create new ones.

Follow the instructions in the information center at the following link:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wtelecom/v6r1/topic/com.ibm.presence.install.doc/clus_cfg_db_c.html

When following the instructions, use DropAndCreateDB2Tables.ddl or DropAndCreateOracleTables.ddl, depending on the database type.

  1. If you have used a custom configuration, you must restore the configuration file in the Presence database. Follow the instructions in the information center at the following link:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wtelecom/v6r1/topic/com.ibm.presence.config.doc/intro_c.html

To deploy the Presence Server application, complete the following steps:

  1. Start WebSphere Application Server.
  2. Log on to the Integrated Solutions Console.
  3. Click Applications > Enterprise Applications.
  4. Select the checkbox for the PresenceServer application and click Update.
  5. Click Browse to find the EAR file on the local file system.
  6. Select the file was_root/installableApps/WebSpherePresenceServerEAR.ear , then click Next.
  7. Select the Cluster (defined for the Presence Server), then click Apply and Next .
  8. Click Next on the following screens, then click Finish in the summary screen.
