---------------------------------------------------------------- IBM WebSphere eXtreme Scale Client Installer README Version 7.1 ---------------------------------------------------------------- The installer for IBM WebSphere eXtreme Scale Client includes libraries for running eXtreme Scale client applications, support tools and a Java Runtime Environment. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Installation overview ---------------------------------------------------------------- The installer provides both a graphical user interface for interactive installations and a response file-driven interface for silent installations. The installer can be installed in one of the following two environments: o As a stand-alone deployment. When eXtreme Scale is installed into a new or empty directory, it is a stand-alone deployment, which includes a Java SE Runtime Environment, support tools and eXtreme Scale runtime to build and run eXtreme Scale applications. o Integrated with WebSphere Application Server. When installed into an existing WebSphere Application Server directory, it becomes integrated with WebSphere Application Server and can run within the WebSphere Application Server processes, allowing first class Java EE application integration, while still using WebSphere Application Server's management capabilities. You can also run eXtreme Scale stand-alone Java SE applications when integrated with WebSphere Application Server. The installer must be installed to a directory that does not already have one of the following products installed: o WebSphere eXtreme Scale o WebSphere Extended Deployment Data Grid. If a previous installation of WebSphere eXtreme Scale or WebSphere Extended Deployment Data Grid exists in the specified installation directory, the install will not continue. You must either choose a different directory or terminate the install. If you are upgrading from a previous version of WebSphere eXtreme Scale or WebSphere Extended Deployment Data Grid, the previous version must first be uninstalled prior to installing the new version. For information on migrating to the new version, see: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wxsinfo/v7r1/topic/com.ibm.websphere.extremescale.admin.doc/txsmigsteps.html The following installation features are not supported by this installer: o z/OS platform This installer supports all supported distributed platforms only. o Centralized Install Manager (CIM) o The eXtreme Scale Install Factory (IF).
