Fix (APAR): JR29663 Status: Fix Release: 6.0.2.4, 6.1.0.x, 6.1.2.x Operating System: AIX,HP-UX,Linux,Solaris,Windows Supersedes Fixes: Prerequisite Fixes CMVC Defect: xxxxxx Byte size of APAR: 17062 Date: 2008-12-15 Abstract: REDUCING THE SCA QUEUE CREATION TO HELP IMPROVING THE RESPONSE TIME OF MESSAGING ENGINE FAILOVER. JR29663 resolves the following problem: ERROR DESCRIPTION: Reducing the SCA queue creation to help improving the response time of messaging engine failover. This APAR will fix this behavior Upon a fail over, the stand by Messaging Engine (ME) becomes active and all the destinations need to be reconfigured onto the failed over ME. Due to the increase number of SCA destinations the context switching was causing a long delay in processing the inflow transactions. PROBLEM CONCLUSION: This fix reduces the number of queues that get created for the SCA components and thereby reducing the failover time. PROBLEM CONCLUSION:? Applying this interim fix will resolve the issue. Directions to apply fix: Download and follow Update Installer installation instructions. The Update Installer can be downloaded from the following link: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg21205991 1) Copy the pak file to the directory maintenance in the UpdateInstaller directory 2) Shutdown WebSphere Process Server. It is important that you perform a controlled and complete shutdown of the server to ensure that all transactions have completed, before installing the fix. 3) Uninstall the customer applications 4) Run the UpdateInstaller and follow the prompts. 5) Restart WebSphere Process Server. 6) Install the Customer applications Directions to remove fix: NOTE: FIXES MUST BE REMOVED IN THE REVERSE ORDER IN WHICH THEY WERE APPLIED. DO NOT REMOVE A FIX UNLESS ALL FIXES APPLIED AFTER IT HAVE FIRST BEEN REMOVED. YOU MAY REAPPLY ANY REMOVED FIX. Example: If your system has fix1, fix2, and fix3 applied in that order and fix2 is to be removed, fix3 must be removed first, then fix2 may be removed 1) Shutdown WebSphere Process Server. It is important that you perform a controlled and complete shutdown of the server to ensure that all transactions have completed, before installing the fix. 2) Follow the Fix instructions that are packaged with the Fix Installer on how to uninstall and reinstall the Fix. 3) Restart WebSphere Process Server. Directions to re-apply fix: 1) Shutdown WebSphere. It is important that you perform a controlled and complete shutdown of the server to ensure that all transactions have completed, before installing the fix. 2) Run the UpdateInstaller and follow the instructions. The Update Installer can be downloaded from the following link: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg21205991 3) Restart WebSphere Process Server. Additional Information: Please note that this fix deals with reduction of SCA destinations that get created on the System Integration Bus. To leverage the fix the users must all the SCA applications must be uninstalled before applying the fix and reinstalled after applying the ifix. However if the users cannot uninstall the apps for any of the, not limited to, below reasons there is a script that can be run after applying the fix that would delete all the unnecessary destinations. a) Long Running BPEL instances b) Customers incur an overhead to uninstall all the applications.
