Electronic Commerce Modeling Language (ECML) support

Electronic Commerce Modeling Language, or ECML, is a universal set of standards for merchant field data collection that automates the information exchange between customers and merchants. ECML allows merchants to quickly accept data from an ECML-enabled wallet. Customers save time by automatically giving the necessary information rather than manually filling out a lengthy form for each purchase. ECML permits customers using online wallets to fill out forms presented by ECML-enabled merchants with a single click. WebSphere Commerce leverages all ECML-enabled wallets in the market. ECML greatly simplifies the customer-merchant interactions at both the registration and order management levels.

The common server run-time supports ECML by mapping ECML tags to WebSphere Commerce tags through the XML mapping table. The XML configuration file converts any WebSphere Commerce specific information to conform with ECML standards.
