Fix history

Problem: The JDBC driver hangs when a response is not received after sending a request.

Fix: The driver has been modified to timeout after 10 minutes and provide a message back to the client that a timeout situation has occurred. You can specify a different timeout period by appending RESPONSETIMEOUT=minutes to the Connection URL string, where minutes is greater than or equal to zero. A zero timeout value disables the timeout function.

Example: jdbc:cac:CACSAMP:tcp/192.168.20.11/3003:RESPONSETIMEOUT=2 cacuser

To be sure you are using the updated driver provided in this fix pack, edit all your existing JDBC connections to point to the new driver.
  1. In the Database Explorer view, right-click the connection and select Edit Connection....
  2. Click Browse, next to the Class location.
  3. Find and select the updated JDBC driver jar file from the following location. The install_dir is the location where you installed Classic Data Architect, such as C:\IBM\Classic91.
    install_dir\CDA\eclipse\plugins\
    com.ibm.datatools.dbdefinition.db2.cac.classic_1.0.2.CDAV91_FP\driver\cacjdbc21.jar

This fix pack can be installed with the product updater directly from the update site. However, if the system where the Classic Data Architect is installed does not have Internet access, you can download this fix pack as a zip file and use the product updater to access the update locally.

Prerequisite

If you disabled any product features through the Update Manager by clicking Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration or by modifying feature.xml files, you must re-enable them before you install this fix pack.

Procedure

If you are using the product updater to install directly from the update site, continue with the instructions below. Otherwise, if you want to obtain the update to install from a local drive, download and extract the file from http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/websphere/cda/91/zips/cdafp2_9102.zip and follow the instructions in the file install_local_910.html.
