APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Customer running WebSphere Application Server 3.5.4 with Active Directory as LDAP. Logging in to WebSphere Portal Server fails when login ID is a user in a double byte character set (DBCS) Organizational Unit (when OU is in Japanese). Customer is able to login if the user belongs to an OU that is in English or other single byte character set.Local fix No known workaround. This is a problem in both WebSphere Security code and Portal Server code. This APAR is for the WebSphere Security portion.Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server security * * users which have used double byte * * characters in security names. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Authorization fails when a login user * * name contains double byte characters. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If a user tries to login WebSphere with a name containing double byte characters, the user receives authorization failure error messages.Problem conclusion The problem is caused by incorrect internal data conversion of double byte characters to byte arrays.Temporary fix A test fix was supplied.Comments
