Problem |
MustGather for problems running as non-root with
WebSphere® Application Server. Gathering this information before calling
IBM® support will help familiarize you with the troubleshooting process
and save you time. |

Solution |
If you have already contacted support, continue on to the
Security component-specific MustGather information. Otherwise, click: MustGather:
Read first for all WebSphere Application Server products.
Running as non-root specific MustGather information
- Verify that the servers work when running as root. Failures when
running as non-root can manifest themselves as permission violations or
lack of authority errors posted in the logs.
- Describe the topology. Check for multi-domain or deployment manager
setup.
- Collect the following:
- For releases of V5.0 and V5.1:
- For releases of V4.0:
- Obtain a full XMLConfig export.
- Perform a recursive search of the directories under and
including the install_root subdirectory. Repeat for all
servers.
- You will want to execute the following command from the
WebSphere directory and submit the log file:
- For all releases:
- Obtain the user names used as the RUN-AS user.
- Obtain the list of groups associated with the RUN-AS
user.
- Follow instructions to send
diagnostic information to IBM support.
