PQ87712; 4.0.5-4.0.7: Application Server processes become orphans after restart
 Downloadable files

Abstract
After restarting WebSphere® Application Server administrative server, the Application Server processes become orphans instead of children of the administrative server.

Download Description
PQ87712 resolves the following problem:

Problem Summary:
During a administrative server restart by the nanny, the previously running Application Server processes may be orphaned.

Problem Conclusion:
PQ62494 fixes this through exposing a new system property -- com.ibm.ejs.sm.adminServer.forceReconnect. Even though this property corrected orphaning in most situations, orphaning could still occur with certain property combinations, one such being disableAutoServerStart=false/nodeStartState=stopped.

This fix now fully solves the problem of orphaned processes.

The application of PQ62494 is a prerequisite.
This APAR supersedes PQ80564.
