APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Problem description and fix are available from customer. . We have recently switched over to using WAS 4.0, with this switch we now rely on the JCE package that is shipped as part of WAS. Whereas before we included the JCE 1.2.1 package in the WCS directories. We have no issues with WCS running on WAS 4.0 using the JCE package inside WAS. However, we do have some command line configuration utilities that rely on the use of the JCE package. There seems to be a problem with these utilities using the JCE package that is part of WAS 4.0 when the path to the JCE files contain spaces. However, in the past when we shipped the JCE package as part of WCS, these tools did not have a problem accessing the JCE files even when spaces were in the path. Do you have any suggestion on what may be the cause and how we would go about fixing this? . This is a JDK problem that Hursley has, ultimately they should provide a fix, but I doubt that will happen, so we have provided a fix to JCE (its on JIM now) that will fix the problem that the JDK introduced. I don't know when WebSphere will pick this up ... I'll copy Raj and see if he can help get WebSphere to pick up this fix. . Rosemary Hu requested that Level 2 create this APAR so that they can provide an eFix.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All WebSphere Application Server users * * using the JCE package shipped with WAS * * externally to WAS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Imbedded spaces in the file names in * * some files of the JCE package were not * * being handled correctly by the JDK. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Imbedded spaces in the file names in some files of the JCE package were not being handled correctly by the JDK.Problem conclusion JCE was changed to workaround the JDK failure.Temporary fix New JCE packaged in PQ55771_eFix.jarComments
