APAR status Closed as documentation error. Error description Documentation in the InfoCenter for setting up Websphere to run as non-root user is not complete. In this case, the customer is running the adminserver as root and the application server as non-root. In order to get the appserver to run properly as non-root he had to do the following things (which were not listed in the infocenter): Change permissions for activity.log, properties directory, temp directory, and installedApps directory. Customer needs to know if anything else needs to be done before he goes into production.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server users who run * * the appserver as a non-root user. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The instructions in the InfoCenter for * * running the application server as a * * non-root user are incomplete. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The following information will be added to the section of "Running application servers as non-root" in InfoCenter article 6.6.a.1: Running the product servers and consoles as non-root: Remove any temporary files that were created by previous executions of the application server when it was "run as" the previous user ID. Change the ownership of these specific files and directories to the user and group that you want the administrative server to "run as." product_installation_root/properties/* product_installation_root/config/* product_installation_root/temp/* product_installation_root/logs/activity.log Make sure that the user has read privileges for properties and installedApps directories.
