APAR status Closed as program error. Error description When user is bringing up the admin console and has a high number of resources 1000+. The topology comes up empty and trace files show "Unable to obtain root instance" message.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All WebSphere Application Server 3.5 users * * with large topologies. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The Admin Console may fail to display * * the topology view, and the message * * "Unable to obtain root instance" may * * be displayed. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Under conditions of heavy load or memory use, code in the WebSphere admin server may fail to process topology requests correctly. This can cause clients (both the gui admin client and wscp) to report a "failure to obtain root instance."Problem conclusion Admin server code has been changed so that it correctly invokes "narrow" in all cases.Temporary fix A test fix was provided to the customer on Saturday morning central US time, 22 Dec.Comments
