Disabling the Sun JDK HotSpot compiler in WebSphere Application Server on Solaris
 Technote (FAQ)

Problem
Often the Sun® JDK HotSpot compiler can cause the Java™ virtual machine (JVM™), or application server, to crash on Solaris™. Disabling the HotSpot compiler can provide a workaround to stabilize the JVM or confirm if the problem is in HotSpot compilation.

Solution
For releases of WebSphere® Application Server V4.0:
  1. In the administrative client, navigate to the application server and select it.
  2. Click the JVM Settings tab.
  3. Click Advanced JVM Settings.
  4. At Command Line Arguments add -Xint.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart the Application Server

For releases of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 and V5.1:
  1. In the administrative console, select Application Servers >
NameOfAppServer > Process Definition > Java Virtual Machine > Generic JVM arguments
    .
  2. Click Add: -Xint
  3. Click OK and save the configuration change.
  4. Restart the Application Server
