Problem |
WebSphere® Studio Application Developer (WSAD) versions
4.0.2 and 4.0.3 ship with WebSphere Application Server Advanced Single
Server Edition (AEs) versions 4.0.1 and 4.0.2, respectively, as the test
environment. It is possible, however, to upgrade WebSphere to the latest
fix pack releases, or to apply WebSphere fixes to the test environment. In
this way, known WebSphere Application Server problems can be fixed and
prevented. |
|
Solution |
To upgrade to a later WebSphere fix pack:
- Download the fix pack from the WebSphere Application Server support
site.
- Follow the instructions to install the fix pack.
- Accept the license agreement.
- Select Yes when the installation program asks to update the
Application Server. For the Application Server Home, type WSAD
root\plugins\com.ibm.etools.websphere.runtime, where WSAD root
is the directory where WSAD is installed.
- When the installation program asks for the JDK in use, type: WSAD
root\plugins\com.ibm.etools.server.jdk.
- Select Yes to perform the update to the JDK.
- Select No when prompted to update the iPlanet Web server
configuration and IBM HTTP Server. Select Yes to use the
Application Server logs directory and place backups under the WebSphere
Application Server home.
- After the installation of the fix pack completes, verify in the
product.xml file in the WSAD
root\plugins\com.ibm.etools.websphere.runtime\properties\com\ibm\websphere
directory that WebSphere has been upgraded.
To install a WebSphere interim fix:
- Download the fix from the WebSphere Application Server support site.
- Follow the instructions to install the fix. When asked for a target
directory, type WSAD root\plugins\com.ibm.etools.websphere.runtime.
- After the installation of the fix completes, verify in the product.xml
file in WSAD
root\plugins\com.ibm.etools.websphere.runtime\properties\com\ibm\websphere
directory that the fix has been installed.
Important note for JSP™ users:
The following must be done before starting WSAD to debug JSP files using
WebSphere 4.0.3. In the WSAD root\plugins\com.ibm.sed.editor
directory, create a text file called jspdebug.properties. In the file,
type useWAS403=true. If breakpoints are previously set in JSP
files, they must be removed and reset for them to work on the WebSphere
4.0.3 server.
