PQ68259: WAS REQUIRES GETEUID TO BE 0 WHICH CONFLICTS WITH DOCUMENTATION WHICH SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT NON-ROOT USERS WITH ROOT AUTH WORKS

APAR status
Closed as Permanent restriction.

Error description
Environment:
WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 4.0.x AEs for Unix
.
Description:
The InfoCenter states that WAS AEs should be able to run as a
non-root user with WAS security enabled if the non-root user has
root authority. However, WAS does a native call to geteuid which
requires it to be 0 which seems to conflict with the
documentation. Should the documentation change to state only
root can be used with WAS security or should the native call be
changed so that non-root users with root authority (defined as
belonging to group 0) should work?
