APAR status Closed as documentation error. Error description In the initial release of WAS AEs 4.0 there was a execution state field in the console that could be set. This has since been removed and is still referenced in the infocenter. Even though this value can still be set by modifying the XML file, there is no longer a field that can be modified to change it. There is in fact no need to change it, since it controls the initial state of the application server which needs to be running for the console to be up. The references in the infocenter to this execution state for AEs need to be removed to keep the customer from being confused. . The documentation should be updated to remove reference to the "Execution State". Specifically, section 6.6.3.0 in the InfoCenter and all the Quick Reference Installation Guides for AIX, Linux, HP-UX, and Solaris. Note that the Installation Guides for Windows NT/2000 are OK as they do not have reference to the "Execution State". . The DOC team needs to address this issue.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All WebSphere Application Server 4.0 AEs * * users of the console. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: InfoCenter articles should no longer * * reference the Execution State field * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The first release of WebSphere Application Server Advanced Single Server Edition Version 4.0 had an Execution State field in the console that you could set. This field has since been removed, though the InfoCenter still references it in the article "6.6.3.0: Application server properties" and in the installation information for the Advanced Single Server Edition on UNIX platforms. . Though you can still set the execution state value by modifying the XML file, there is no longer a field in the console that you can modify to change the field's value. In fact, there is no need to change the value because it controls the initial state of the application server, which must be running for the console to be operational.Problem conclusion The InfoCenter has been updated.Temporary fix Comments
