PQ55055: CAN'T INSTALL ENTERPRISE APP WHEN EAR LOCATED ON REMOTE WIN2K READ-ONLY FILE SYSTEM

APAR status
Closed as fixed if next.

Error description
When using the WAS Administrative Console's "Install Enterprise
Application" wizard, it's not possible to browse for the EAR if
it's located on a remotely mounted, read-only file system and th
at file system is located on a Windows 2000 machine. The remote
ly mounted directory is displayed as a file, rather than a
directory, from the Browse window's drop-down list of drive
letters. This works as expected when the machine holding the
remote, read-only file system is running Windows NT 4.0.
Local fix
There is not a workaround that allows the remote file system to
be read-only.

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: User is unable to install an .ear file *
* that is located on a remote read only *
*                      windows file system.                    *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
This is working as designed for release 4.0.x. Application
install requires that it be able to be writeable because
the installation process makes updates to the .ear file
itself. This limitation will be resolved in the next release.
