PQ56063, 4.0.0 & 4.0.1: iPlanet SP4.1 SP7 Persistent Connections do Not Work
 Downloadable files

Abstract
iPlanet web server closes the connection even if Connection: Keep-Alive is in the response headers.

Download Description
Even though keep-alive is specified for a request, the persistent connection is not maintained. iPlanet SP4.1 SP7 HTTP Server will drop persistent SSL connections to browsers after FP2 or greater is applied to WebSphere® Application Server V3.5.

In V3.5 FP0, HTTP Response Header fields were formatted in lower case. In FP2 and higher Fix Pack levels, HTTP Response Header fields were formatted in mixed uppercase and lower case. This causes the iPlanet HTTP Server not to recognized some key HTTP Response header fields that dictate the HTTP protocol exchange between browser clients and the web server. Lower case HTTP Response headers will ensure that connections between the iPlanet server and the browser are not dropped.

USERS AFFECTED: All WebSphere Application Server users who use iPlanet webserver AND expect persistent connections.
