APAR status Closed as documentation error. Error description WAS 4.0.x AE may generate an error message, "ServletEngine X SRVE0146E: Failed to Start Transport" when a configured transport-port is in use by another application. This error message is not documented in section "8.2 Messages" of the WAS 4.0 AE InfoCenter as it should be. . InfoCenter should be fixed to document this message similar to the following text: "The most likely cause is that the port is already in use. Please ensure that no other applications are using this port and then restart the server. If another application is using this port, then change the transport-port in WAS to another value, or change the other application to use a different port."Local fix Documentation is missing from the InfoCenter. The workaround is for customers to interpret the WAS logs instead of looking up error codes in the InfoCenter.Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server users * * receiving SRVE0146E message. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The message SRVE0146E is not * * documented in the InfoCenter. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The 4.0.4 Release Notes will be updated as follows: The following message is missing from the 8.2 Messages file in the WebSphere Application Server InfoCenter SRVE0146E: Failed to Start Transport Explanation: A configured transport-port is in use by another application.
