Servlet Engine/Web Container specific MustGather information
The following describes the steps to dynamically trace Servlet Engine/Web Container errors. You will be dynamically tracing the Application Server using Application Server Ring Buffer tracing.

Assume the trace string will be the following:

com.ibm.servlet.engine.*=all=enabled

You can set this trace at the time the problem occurs (WITHOUT RESTARTING THE APPLICATION SERVER) by using the following steps:
  1. In the administrative client, select your application server in the topology tree.

  2. Go to the Services tab and select Trace Service, and then Edit properties.

  3. In Trace Service, click on the "..." next to the Trace Specification field.

  4. In the Trace window, enter 200 in the Ring Buffer Size field. This equates to approximately an additional 40 MB Java heap usage. Be sure your Application Server mx value is set to accommodate the additional heap usage.

  5. Expand components, com, ibm, servlet, engine (this will change depending on the required tracestring).

  6. Right-click on engine and select all.

  7. Click OK.

  8. In the Trace Service window, specify "Ring Buffer" under the output file section.

  9. Click OK in the Trace Service window.

  10. Click Apply.

  11. Recreate your problem.

  12. Go to the Services tab and select Trace Service, and then Edit properties. In the Trace Service click on the "..." next to the Trace Specification field. In the Trace window, enter a fully qualified path and filename into the "dump file name" field, and click dump.

  13. Collect the following files:
    1. Trace file from previous step
    2. The tracefile
    3. The stderr and stdout files for the Application Server
    4. The native.log (plug-in log file from Web server)
    5. XMLConfig full export

  14. Follow instructions to send diagnostic information to IBM support.
