PQ60807: WebSphere 4.0.3: Performance problem with processing of HTTP headers
 Downloadable files

Abstract
Performance degradation with processing of HTTP headers in WebSphere® Application Server V4.0.3.

Download Description
PQ60807 resolves the following problem:

USERS AFFECTED:
WebSphere Application Server users via an HTTP client, such as a browser.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The processing of HTTP headers in WebSphere Application server was not optimal, & more CPU cycles have been used for their processing, than necessary. Overall performance of WebSphere Application Server may be affected.

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
A new Java 'String' object has been created for each HTTP header name. HTTP header names are generally well-defined, so now we cache these names to avoid of having to create a new 'String' object. HTTP header processing is now significantly more efficient.
