APAR status Closed as program error. Error description This defect deals with problems involving workload management and failover of security server, which resides in the Websphere administrative server. Without this fix, the application server is unable to failover to a backup security server during credential validation when the administrative server fails.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All WebSphere Application Server users who * * have enabled security. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If an administration server exits and * * is restarted, existing java clients * * may fail to connect to the new * * instance. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If an administration server exits and is restarted, java clients, which include application servers and other administration servers, may fail to connect to the new instance. The problem was that security was keeping an indirect reference to a remote security EJB and did not have a mechanism to tell when that reference is no longer valid. Another scenario would enabling failover for application servers to a remote administration server should the local one become unavailable.Problem conclusion A direct reference is now used which allows for detection of this condition and reconnecting.Temporary fix Comments
