![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Customer wanted to install the plugin and JDK on a remote iis web server, after selecting the specific items from the WAS install CD the plugin and JDK were installed but he later did not have the option to uninstall from the server. The setupdll.dll and uninstWAS40.exe were not installed on the box. A recreate was done here and we had the same situation, we added the 2 files and were able to then uninstall the items.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server 4.0 Advanced * * and Single Server edition users on a Windows * * operating system who choose only to install * * the "Application Assembly and Deployment * * Tools" and / or "Web server Plugins" from * * base 4.0.1. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The files necessary to properly * * uninstall WebSphere are not installed * * on a tools and / or plugin only * * installation on Windows. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** During the 4.0.1 base installation of WebSphere on Windows, if the user only chooses to install the "Application Assembly and Deployment Tools" and / or "Web server Plugins" option(s) from the installation, the files that uninstall the product do not get installed. The files that are missing are: uninstWAS40.exe setupdll.dll iis40lib.dll These files are suppose to reside in the C:\WebSphere\AppServer directory. When these files are not installed the user has no way of uninstalling WebSphere other than to manually clean up the Windows registry and delete the WebSphere installation directory.Problem conclusion The PTF installer was modified to install the three files necessary to properly uninstall WebSphere. uninstWAS40.exe, setupdll.dll and iis40lib.dll will now be installed if they are missing on a WebSphere installation on Windows during the PTF installation.Temporary fix The uninstWAS40.exe, setupdll.dll and iis40lib.dll files are installed for component-only installations on Windows. This Test eFix will install those files so the user can properly uninstall WebSphere and clean up the registry.Comments
