PQ72416: INFOCENTER STATES IN SECTION 3.2.4 THAT FOR MIGRATION PURPOSES THE 3.X AND 4.X PLUGIN CAN COEXIST WHEN IT SHOULD SAY 3.5X.

 A fix is available

4.0.6: WebSphere Application Server Version 4.0 Fix Pack 6

APAR status
Closed as documentation error.

Error description
Although the Infocenter for Websphere 4.0x states in
section 3.2.4 that for migration purposes the 3.x plugin
and 4.x plugin can co-exist on the same web server, it
should actually say 3.5x instead of 4.x.
.
The Release Notes, which supercede the Infocenter, go into
co-existence much more extensively and correctly omits
this scenario as one of the accepted configurations.
Local fix
Release notes more clearly states the correct information.

Article 3.4.2 stated that it was possible for a common Web
server to support both V3.x and V4.0. This was misleading.
Although it is possible to migrate V3.0.2 to V4.0, it is not
possible for a Web server to support both versions.
The information in the InfoCenter now clearly states that the
common Web server can support V3.5.x and V4.0 but not V3.0.2
and V4.0.
Problem conclusion
Close this APAR as a documentation change.
