PQ57521: DUPLICATE MESSAGES IN ERROR LOGS IN WEBSPHERE 4.0

APAR status
Closed as suggestion for future release.

Error description
In WAS 4.0, 4.01, and 4.02. If the customer specifies a trace s
pecification, then disables the trace, the trace output still go
es to the stderr.log or other specified file. The messages that
are normally sent to the stdout.log are also sent to the stderr
.log.
Local fix Problem summary Problem conclusion Temporary fix Comments
Unique file names are required for the stdout and stderr files.
In addition if you choose to route trace to a file whose name
you provide, again you must provide a unique file name. If you
do not provide unique file names will experience what you are
seeing. In addition, there are other things may happen such as
entries being incoherent, with one entry embedded inside
another one. When you use the same file name for both stdout
and stderr, there are two writers open over the same file and
there is no synchronization communication between writers.
