Cumulative JSSE and JCE Interim Fixes Fail to Update All Files
 Technote (FAQ)

Problem
The security cumulative JCE and JSSE interim fixes, dated 14 March 2003 and 17 March 2003 respectively, report that some files are skipped during install. The skipped files are noted inside the Extractor.log file.

Cause
After installing the cumulative JCE interim fix, some of the following files are not updated:
Not updated:
  • ibmjcefw.jar
  • ibmjceprovider.jar
  • ibmpkcs.jar
  • local_policy.jar
  • US_export_policy.jar

The dates on the files that are not updated will not be modified, and the contents will be unchanged.
  • 2003/05/13 08:16:55 Skipping entry which is marked for update only and which would add a new file: $WAS_HOME/java/jre/lib/ext/gskikm.jar

On UNIX platforms, the following message is noted in the Extractor.log file:
  • 2003/05/13 08:16:55 Skipping entry which is marked for update only and which would add a new file: $WAS_HOME/java/jre/lib/ext/ibmjsse.jar

Solution
New version of these cumulative interim fixes available.
When downloading the fixes from the support site, the newer fixes will contain 'r2' in the file name.

Remove any fixes that did not update successfully, and then install the new 'r2' version.
