Problem |
During the installation of WebSphere® Application Server,
there does not seem to be a way to specify where the ASTK gets
installed. |
|
Cause |
The installation directory for the ASTK is hard coded. For
example, on AIX® it will be installed into the /usr/IBM/ASTK
directory. |
|
Solution |
If you would rather not have the ASTK installed in the
default location, you can create a symbolic link prior to running the
install. Then the /usr/IBM/ASTK directory does not have to be
created during the installation process, and you have more control over
the installation location.
For example, you could use the following commands to create a
/home/ASTK directory, and have the /usr/IBM/ASTK
directory point to it:
# mkdir /home/ASTK
# cd /usr
# mkdir IBM
# cd IBM
# ln -s /home/ASTK /usr/IBM/ASTK
# ls -lAgo /usr/IBM
lrwxrwxrwx 1 gibson 109 Jun 7 15:20 ASTK
-> /home/ASTK |
You could also have all of the /usr/IBM directory on a different
file system using the same technique. For example:
# mkdir /home/IBM
# cd /usr
# ln -s /home/IBM IBM
# ls -ldgo IBM
lrwxrwxrwx 1 gibson 107 Jun 7 15:23 IBM
-> /home/IBM |
This way, when /usr/IBM/ASTK, or any other file/directory needs
to be created under /usr/IBM, it will exist on the file system
under /home/IBM. |
