What does "WebSphere Application Server has been tested as a 32-bit application" mean on the Prerequisite page?
 Technote (FAQ)

Problem
Each WebSphere® Application Server software prerequisite page includes footnote:

"For AIX Power PC, Solaris SPARC, and HP-UX PA-RISC platforms, WebSphere Application Server has been tested as a 32-bit application on a 32-bit kernel and on 64-bit machines booted with 64-bit kernels; however, 64-bit mode is not exploited."

What does the footnote mean for an environment configured to use 64-bit mode?

Cause
There is need to clarify how 64-bit mode will be supported.

Solution
Yes, 64-bit mode is supported.

The footnote refers to the the Java™ environment for WebSphere Application Server being designed for, and tested in, 32-bit mode configurations. These Java Virtual Machines have not been designed to take advantage of, or exploit, any of the available 64-bit mode environment.

However, each WebSphere Application Server for which the footnote exists indicates that it has been tested on that 64-bit mode environment, and has been found to be compatible.
