PQ56698: APP SERVER ADDED WITH XMLCONFIG DOES NOT APPEAR IN TOPOLOGY TREEAFTER "REFRESH" ON ADMINISTRATIVE DOMAIN | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||
APAR status Closed as suggestion for future release. Error description Use XMLConfig to add an enterprise application to a domain and an application server to a node. After XMLConfig successfully completes, select "WebSphere Administrative Domain" in the administrative console's topology window and then press the "refresh" button. The subtree of enterprise applications is updated to show the new enterprise application, but the subtree of application servers is unchanged. . The "WebSphere Administrative Domain"->Nodes->[node name]->"Application Servers" must be refreshed directly before the topology tree will display the newly added application server. Performing a refresh from the "WebSphere Administrative Domain" should update all elements in the entire topology tree.Local fix The workaround is to navigate to the "Application Servers" subtree and then press the "refresh" button.Problem summary Problem conclusion Temporary fix Comments Refreshing the whole tree is a very expensive task if there are lots of objects in the topology since the refresh operation resurrects all the topology objects as EJBs on the server side. There were complaints that refreshing the whole tree is performance intensive and makes the console unusable for quite a long time if the tree is deep. Hence it has been intentionally implemented such that refresh operation only updates one level of the tree.
