Interoperability Exceptions Related to Incompatible ORB, when Interacting With a V6.0 Cluster From a V4.0 Thin Client
 Technote (FAQ)

Problem
If your configuration includes a WebSphere® Application Server V6.0 cluster and a V4.0 release thin client, you could encounter the following error:

java.rmi.MarshalException: CORBA MARSHAL 0 No; nested exception is:
org.omg.CORBA.MARSHAL: Unable to read value from underlying bridge : null minor code: 0 completed: No

Cause
ORB142, used in V6.0, has a performance feature to stop sending reply service contexts once it is confirmed that the client has received it for the connection. This is causing a problem for ORB130, used in V4.0.7.

Solution
The solution will be available in the SDK 1.4.2 SR1a for V6.0 when reply service contexts will always be sent when inter operating with V4.0 releases.
