APAR status Closed as unreproducible. Error description Modifying and applying changes to XA datasources do not take affect. User is required to delete and recreate the datasource. Another workaround is to delete a file for the appserver called <appserver name>_XAResources before modifying. This is not documented.Local fix delete and recreate the XA datasourceProblem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server users who * * create datasources via the admin console, * * XMLConfig, or wscp. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After a datasource is created in * * WebSphere, the attributes for that * * datasource cannot be changed using the * * WebSphere tools without creating * * additional problems such as Websphere * * being unable to connect to the * * associated database. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When defining a datasource for an application that was being installed, the DB name was entered incorrectly. It should have been CMVCApp, but what was actually entered was CMVCAp . When trying to start the server, a message was produced stating there was a problem connecting to the DB. After correcting the typo in the database name, the properties of the Datasource was edited to correct the name, and the server restarted. This didn't correct the problem, so the datasource was deleted (after removing the application) and recreated with the correct DB name. After reinstalling the app and trying to start the server again, the problem persisted. Next, a new datasource with a different name was created, the app was pointed to the new Datasource, but the start of the server continued to fail. The only way to correct the problem was to delete the "CMVCServerXAResources" file from the properties. This solved the problem. . This problem was fixed in the defect 113710.Problem conclusion Temporary fix Comments This APAR is being closed because it is written against docs and documentation update requests are not handled through APARs. The issue that the customer was experiencing with updating datasources has been resolved and will be included in the next 4.0.x PTF.
