![]() APAR status Closed as documentation error. Error description The following infocenter link has to be updated to include the i nstalledApps information. http://www-3.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/v40/ae/ infocenter/was/rncoexist.html The link has information about having multiple instance, but it d oes not have information about installing applications. All the installedApps will go only in to installedApps directory. This i nformation has to go in to infocenter. Please read the PMR 37737 ,278,00 for more update. Also please comminicate with WEBSJAVA.COEXISTANCE_DOCfor more information to update in the i nfocenter. If there is an example to install an application afte r creating multiple instance , it will be great. WebSphere Application Server Co-Existance.Local fix Infocenter has to be updated ASAP to provide the changes for ins talledApps.Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server users who * * attempt to use the topics 3.4 and 3.8 in * * the 4.0.6 InfoCenter. These topics are * * instructions for co-existence. One of the * * topics within co-existence is "Enabling * * co-existence of multiple domains of * * WebSphere Application Server Advanced * * Edition Version 4.0 from a single * * installation using a single instance of a * * Web server". Users of this documentation do * * not have sufficient information to run * * co-existence in this situation. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Steps 9 to 11 are for the Default * * Server, that is already deployed. * * There are no instructions for * * deploying a user's application in * * this situation. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The documentation in the InfoCenter needs to be updated to include the steps to deploy a user's application when enabling co-existence of multiple domains of WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition Version 4.0 from a single installation using a single instance of a Web server. The documentation also needs to be updated to explain how to configure the plug-ins and re-direct requests for multiple WebSphere Application Server instances. Examples are needed for both situations. The key differences to deploying a user's application as opposed to the Default Server are: - For each instance, the user needs to deploy an EAR file to the installableApps directory. They must have unique names, because all instances share this directory. Further, the EAR files are touched by WebSphere during deploy. - For each instance, the user needs to deploy the uniquely named EAR files into the same installedApps directory. As a result, each instance will access unique subdirectories in installedApps. The second problem is how to configure the plug-ins for multiple WebSphere Application Server instances. The documentation implies installing multiple plug-ins for a single Web server instance that listens on port 80. For users of WebSphere versions that do not support the same version of a specific Web server, it is necessary to: - Configure multiple Web server instances, with only one listening on port 80 - The Web server listening on port 80 may have as few as ZERO or ONE WebSphere plug-in. - For any URL that is to be handled by another Web server instance, the Web server listening on port 80 needs to redirect the request to a different port so that the appropriate Web server and WebSphere combination can serve the request. This scenario is not documented in the InfoCenter.Problem conclusion The WebSphere Application Server Version 4.0.7 InfoCenter will include the following information updates: - Add steps to deploy a user's application when enabling co-existence of multiple domains of WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition Version 4.0 from a single installation using a single instance of a Web server. - Add steps on how to configure plug-ins and re-direct requests for multiple instances. -Add examples for all the tasks above.Temporary fix Comments
