Running as non-root specific MustGather information
  1. Verify that the servers work when running as root. Failures when running as non-root can manifest themselves as permission violations or lack of authority errors posted in the logs.

  2. Describe the topology. Check for multi-domain or deployment manager setup.

  3. Collect the following:
    • For releases of V5.0 and V5.1:
    • For releases of V4.0:
      • Obtain a full XMLConfig export.

      • Perform a recursive search of the directories under and including the install_root subdirectory. Repeat for all servers.

      • You will want to execute the following command from the WebSphere directory and submit the log file:

        ls -al > fileperms.log

    • For all releases:
      • Obtain the user names used as the RUN-AS user.

      • Obtain the list of groups associated with the RUN-AS user.
