APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Environment: WebSphere Application Server AE 4.0.1 Description: After using the Security Center to assign a group (rather than a user) to the Administrative Role, AdminRole, restarting WebSphere Application Server causes the admin server to fail to start. This also is addressed in CMVC defect 112496.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All WebSphere Application Server users * * configuring a group in the Admin Role. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Groups cannot be assigned to the Admin * * Role per WebSphere design. Assigning * * a group to the Admin role yields a * * ConcurrentModificationException * * exception. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Groups cannot be assigned to the Admin Role per WebSphere design.Problem conclusion The admin role authorization table was not being updated with the proper group object which causing the exception.Temporary fix Solution delivered in V4.0.2 (fix pack 2).Comments Updated fix to identify ifix is no longer available. It is necessary to install fix pack 2 or later to install this fix.
