PQ72509: GARBAGE COLLECTION IN JDK CA131W-20020404 ON AIX IS INCOMPLETE

 A fix is available

***SUPERCEDED*** 1.3.1 Java SDK, Java Tech Edition for WebSphere v5

APAR status
Closed as program error.

Error description
Customer experienced Java OutOfMemory Exceptions on AIX
Here is a specific scenario reported by a use of PeopleSoft:
The PeopleSoft application normally cleans up resources
explicitly, but if a user closes a browser without logging
off, the HTTP session will stay around until timed out and
garbage collected. In the HTTP session, is a connection
to the PeopleSoft Tuxedo server. This tuxedo connection
will also time out, sometimes before the HTTP session is
finalized. When this happens, an error is returned to the
finalizer which results in an exception. This led to a
memory leak in WebSphere.
