Problem |
The following error message is seen in the System.out log
during server startup:
Exception in thread "CompileThread0" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: requested
1073741832 bytes. |
|
Cause |
Possible causes:
- not enough swap space left, or
- kernel parameter MAXDSIZ is very small. |
|
Solution |
After receiving the above error, the application server
restarts itself. In an effort to correct the problem, -Xms and -Xmx were
both increased, as well as the MAXDSIZ parameter. From the error
shown above, the JSP being compiled is over 1 Gigabyte in size (1073741832
bytes).
Solution:
After increasing the MAXDSIZ and SWAPMEM_on settings to
handle the size of the JSP being compiled, the problem was resolved.
Below are links to a HP-UX documentation that provides information
necessary to tune the settings in HP-UX. The links to specific sections of
the tuning guide concerning MAXDSIZ and SWAPMEM are also provided.
