APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Environment: WebSphere Application Server 3.0.2.4 . Description: Removed unnecessary LDAP searches for every group a user belongs to in the Application Server code to improve performance under high work load on WebSphere Application Server.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All WebSphere Application Server users * * using LTPA authentication and assigning * * users to one or more groups. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WebSphere was validating all groups * * returned from LDAP for a given user. * * This validation was unnecessary as the * * information had just been received by * * LDAP and was unlikely to change. If * * LDAP queries for group information * * took an excessive amount of time the * * admin server load is high, this could * * add a significant amount of time to * * the authentication process. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Authentication performance issues caused by LDAP queries to validate group names.Problem conclusion The unnecessary queries were removed.Temporary fix There is an efix available for this issue.Comments
