It can be installed on top of Fix Packs 1, 2, 3, and 4. Fix Pack 5 expands the list of supported product prerequisites. See the following Web site for details: http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/v35/prereq.html SPACE REQUIREMENTS ------------------ The Fix Pack installation program requires some temporary space, approximately 60 MB. After it is installed, the Fix Pack 5 code increases the IBM WebSphere Application Server installation and runtime footprints by a small amount. INSTALLING FIX PACK 5 ON AIX, HP-UX, LINUX, AND SOLARIS ------------------------------------------------------- * Before installation, remove any previously installed e-fixes from the machine. 1. Obtain the tar or zip was35_adv_ptf_5_(Platform) from the product Web site: http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/support.html Download the file into an empty directory with READ/WRITE priveleges on the machine on which you plan to install the Fix Pack. Consider that the directory is /tmp 2. At a system command prompt, change the directory to where you downloaded the file, for example: # cd /tmp 3. Untar or unzip the file. For untarring: # tar -xvf was35_adv_ptf_5_(Platform).tar For unzipping : # gunzip was35_adv_ptf_5_(Platform).zip 4. Stop the Web server that you have been using with IBM WebSphere Application Server. 5. Stop IBM WebSphere Application Server. 6. Determine the IBM WebSphere Application Server installation root for the respective operating system. By default, these locations are: AIX /usr/WebSphere/AppServer HP-UX /opt/WebSphere/AppServer Linux /opt/IBMWebAS Linux on S/390 /opt/IBMWebAS NetWare \WebSphere\AppServer Solaris /opt/WebSphere/AppServer For the most updated information, consult: http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/v35/ae/infocenter/was/root.html USING THE INSTALLATION SCRIPT ----------------------------- 1. Install the Fix Pack using the installation script or using the silent installation. a. If installing the Fix Pack on Linux, before starting the install script you must update the Path environment variable: PATH=/opt/IBMWebAS/IBMJava2-122/bin:$PATH b. Run the Fix Pack installation script: # ./install.sh c. Follow the instructions provided during the installation program. During installation, the following inputs need to be given: i: WebSphere Root Directory : (The default locations for different platforms are: Solaris/HP :/opt/WebSphere/AppServer AIX : /usr/WebSphere/AppServer Linux : /opt/IBMWebAS ) ii. Web Server Doc Root Path : The WebServer's Document Root can be determined by looking at the webserver's configuration file. The default locations for IBM HTTP Server is Solaris:/opt/IBMHTTPD/htdocs/en_US AIX: /usr/HTTPServer/htdocs/en_US Linux :/opt/IBMHTTPServer/htdocs/en_US HP:/opt/HTTPServer/htdocs/en_US The default locations for Apache Server Solaris/Linux/AIX/HP: /usr/local/apache/htdocs The default locations for Domino 5.0.x Solaris/AIX:/local/notesdata/domino/html The default locations for i-planet 4.x.SPx Solaris/AIX/HP:/usr/netscape/server4/docs The default locations for Netscape Enterprise Server 3.6.3/ 3.5.1 Solaris/HP/AIX: /usr/netscape/suitespot/docs USING THE SILENT INSTALLATION ----------------------------- 1. Set the following environment variables prior to performing silent install: WAS_DIR Set WAS_DIR to the product installation root that you determined in a previous step IHS_INSTALL Set IHS_INSTALL to true if you want to install IHS PTF, else false DOC_ROOT Set DOC_ROOT to the Web server document root only if you want to upgrade samples. Export the following environment variables: WAS_DIR IHS_INSTALL DOC_ROOT 2. Run the install silently by issuing the command: ./install.sh -silent * If the required environment variables are not set, the install process will list them out and exit. UNINSTALLING FIX PACK 5 ON AIX, HP-UX, LINUX, AND SOLARIS --------------------------------------------------------- 1. Stop IBM WebSphere Application Server. 2. Stop the Web Server that you have been using with IBM WebSphere Application Server. 3. At a system command prompt, change directory to the product installation root. 4. Run the uninstall script: uninstall_ptf_5.sh INSTALLING FIX PACK 5 ON WINDOWS NT (AND 2000) ---------------------------------------------- * Before installation, remove any previously installed e-fixes from the machine. 1. Obtain ptf.zip from the product Web site: http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/support.html Download the file into an empty directory on the machine on which you plan to install the Fix Pack. 2. At a system command line, change directory (cd) to where you downloaded the file. 3. Unzip the file. 4. Stop the Web server that you have been using with IBM WebSphere Application Server. 5. Stop IBM WebSphere Application Server. 6. Determine the product installation root for the operating system. By default, the value is: Windows NT (Example: :\WebSphere\AppServer) USING THE INSTALLATION SCRIPT ----------------------------- 1. Run the Fix Pack installation batch file: install.bat 2. Follow the instructions provided by the installation program.
