Fix (APAR): PQ98577 Status: Fix Release: 5.1.1.3 Operating System: All Supersedes Fixes: Pre-requisite Fixes: CMVC Defect: PQ98577 Byte size of APAR: 4000 Date: 2005-05-04 Abstract: WHEN USING A HEAVILY LOADED SERVER, ASYNCHRONOUS BEANS MAY NOT GET DRIVEN. Description/symptom of problem: When using a heavily loaded server, asynchronous beans may not be driven. This problem was discovered internally by IBM when performing stress testing of asynchronous beans. In the BoundedBuffer class, which keeps track of Runnables, a synchronization error may occur when putting an object into the buffer. The class BoundedBuffer will be updated to correct the synchronization error that has been identified. Directions to apply fix: NOTE: YOU MUST FIRST DOWNLOAD THE FIX INSTALLER TOOL IN ORDER TO INSTALL A FIX. The Fix Installer can be downloaded from the following link: http://www-3.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/support/index.html 1) Create temporary "fix" directory to store the jar file: UNIX: /tmp/WebSphere/fix Windows: c:\temp\WebSphere\fix 2) Copy jar file to the directory 3) Shutdown WebSphere. It is important that you perform a controlled and complete shutdown of the server to ensure that all transactions have completed, before installing the fix. 4) Follow the Fix installation instructions that are packaged with the Fix Installer on how to install the Fix. 5) Restart WebSphere 6) The temp directory may be removed but the jar file should be saved. Do not remove any files created and stored in the /WebSphere/AppServer/fix/ directories. These files are required if a fix is to be removed. Directions to remove fix: NOTE: FIXES MUST BE REMOVED IN THE ORDER THEY WERE APPLIED. DO NOT REMOVE A FIX UNLESS ALL FIXES APPLIED AFTER IT HAVE FIRST BEEN REMOVED. YOU MAY REAPPLY ANY REMOVED FIX.
