Fix (APAR): PQ96173 Status: Fix Release: 5.1.1,5.1.1.1,5.1.1.3,5.1.1.4,5.1.1.5 Operating System: All Supersedes Fixes: CMVC Defect: PQ96173 Byte size of APAR: 6508 Date: 2004-10-25 Abstract: Validation of server cluster membership causes an incorrect validation error. Description/symptom of problem: Validation of the server configuration was generating a validation error on a valid configuration. This occurred when the server was a member of a cluster. The server name and server cluster name were not being compared correctly to the cluster name and the cluster member name values. This problem results in the generation of validation error WHKW2125E, for example, as generated by the wsAdmin $AdminConfig validate command: _Websphere_Config_Data_Id= cells/mercurii/nodes/pj01sv01/servers/se01a: server.xml#Server_1091135690699"; CHKW2125E: The server se01a, by its configuration, is set as a member of cluster se, but that cluster's configuration does not list the server as a member. PROBLEM CONCLUSION: This fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in Cumulative Fix 6 (V5.1.1.6). Refer to recommended updates for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980 Directions to apply fix: NOTE: YOU MUST FIRST DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE INSTALLER TOOL IN ORDER TO INSTALL A FIX. The Fix Installer can be downloaded from the following link: http://www-3.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/support/index.html 1) Create temporary "fix" directory to store the jar file: UNIX: /tmp/WebSphere/fix Windows: c:\temp\WebSphere\fix 2) Copy jar file to the directory 3) Shutdown WebSphere 4) Follow the Fix installation instructions that are packaged with the Fix Installer on how to install the Fix. 5) Restart WebSphere 6) The temp directory may be removed. Directions to remove fix: NOTE: FIXES MUST BE REMOVED IN THE ORDER THEY WERE APPLIED. DO NOT REMOVE A FIX UNLESS ALL FIXES APPLIED AFTER IT HAVE FIRST BEEN REMOVED. YOU MAY REAPPLY ANY REMOVED FIX. Example: If your system has fix1, fix2, and fix3 applied in that order and fix2 is to be removed, fix3 must be removed first, fix2 removed, and fix3 re-applied. 1) Shutdown WebSphere 2) Follow the instructions that are packaged with the Fix Installer on how to uninstall the Fix. 3) Restart WebSphere Directions to re-apply fix: 1) Shutdown WebSphere 2) Follow the Fix instructions that are packaged with the Fix Installer on how to uninstall and reinstall the Fix. 3) Restart WebSphere Additional Information: In a federated installation the fix should be applied to both the BASE and ND nodes. Applying the fix to the ND node fixes the problem for the administrative console and for the admin scripting client running against the ND node. Applying the fix on the BASE node fixes the problem when running admin scripting without making a connection to the ND node. Applying the fix to the BASE (or EXPRESS) node is necessary in a non-federated installation.
